Pics from Jay, FL hunt
Sharing a few pictures from our Hunt and Bench Show. We had one registered cast with four dogs, one dog NC cast, and 9 dogs in the Show.
The first photo is Norman Black, Bobby Burkett owner of the hound, his nephew Ethan, and Tommy Valdez. Bobby came 260 miles to judge our show for us, and we thank him. This is the winner ( Bobby's hound) of the NC cast with a non-hunting judge. They seen 4 coons and scored on 2, and came in 450+.
This is Dan Fikes in the blue hat, he had 2 sons play football for the Florida Gators back in the 80's. One of them retired from the NFL.
Mr Aubrey Johnson still huntin', and one of the few that still has a keen sense of hearing.
Aubrey setting up his dog and Jim Huie our club president in the middle. He's in charge of the food, eating it I believe.
CONGRATS!
Looks like everyone had a great time! The pix are very nice.
HappyHunting etc! Heather and Bob

Mr Don Huie is in the middle, I believe he just turned 83. He'll go huntin' any time you get ready. His hearing ain't what it used to be, but his mind is in great shape. He hasn't forgot much. He's met alot of hunters over the years, such as Frankie Dukes, Russ Bellar, Tim Ball, Joe House, and others

Here's one of Erby Adams and his blue tick with the judge Bobby Burkett.
Here is one of the rifle that was raffled off. Bobby's nephew Ethan with Skinner on the left and Jim on the right. I almost forgot, that little feller is Logan, probably knows more about dogs than most will have the opportunity to learn. His dad is one the best hunters I have ever been to the woods with.
Here's a young man that is sportin' some hardware with a Plott.
Henry Langford with a walker, but I'm not sure if it his. Henry's got some good dogs.
Skinner and Logan showing a walker.
Mike Cooley with his family and Plott.
This is me at the table helping Bobby with the BS entry forms. My name is Steve Coplen the club secretary. I hate that title.
Here's another of me keeping records of the treeing contest. That blue tick is a 9 mo old female I bred and raised. The owner is gettin' ready to turn her loose. He says she's doing real good for her age. She's heavy Jet bred on the top and bottom.
Here comes the winner of the drag race, Mike Cooley's Plott dog.
WAY COOL!!!
That drag race picture made my heart race and Bob LOVED IT! He is still grinning...LOL... Having had racing greyhounds (retired)... I LOVE to see dawgs run... and to see the coonhounds doing that on the road is COOL! Wish that people around here HAD coonhounds... so we saw this sort of thing...
AS for the pix... they only got better since my first post... seeing the youth with the hounds is always GREAT! To know that some of them will be keeping the sport alive... Cool!
Nothing wrong with having the "secretary" title... I'm sure you have done TONS for your club.
Keep having FUN... HEather and Bob

Thanks Heather, I noticed that other dog is a leopard hound bringing up a close second. I missed the race doing some paperwork. It takes alot of encouragement to get a kid over it's fears and shyness to participate in things like this. It takes a special kind of person to get kids involved, mostly it takes getting adults off their behinds, no matter the activity. I wish you could see Logan's art work that he does with his big toe in the dirt. That boy is all boy, and raised by good parents.
Looks like a good time! Always good hearing old stories from Mr Huie!

Thanks Clay, Bobby did a good job. We didn't expect to have that many. There is already talk of a youth hunt being planned pretty soon.
