One of the Rarest Hounds in the World..

I have been Searching for one of These for Along time now !! I have had afew French Deals to get one, Fail when they were almost to Paris .. The French are very Political and very Iffy about the US.. Go Figgure .. LOL We help save their Butts and they still hate us..

Anyway This is a Pup out First Litter of "Grand Gascon Saintongeois" Born in the US and Reg. UKC ..

The Saintongeois Played a Good Sized part in the Creation of Some Lines of Bluetick and English Coonhound that go Back to "Border's Raider" which was Part Saintongeois ..

Bill Green Added this French Breed to the Lee Brother's Hounds he Bought as a Young man in the 30's and Then Preformed the Same Cross again after War World II ..

This is Our Female Pup !! Their Know as French Boar Hounds but this one will be Worked on Coon and Bobcat

Grady your right .. They were once Extinct and they Rebuilt them from St. Hurberts Hounds "Bloodhounds" (The Same Hounds that Built the Fox Hound) and Grand Blue Gascon's .. Only Nobility were allowed to own them .. So When they Cut the Heads off the Nobils Plus A few King and Queens .. Their Hounds Died with them ...

Them French !!! lol

would this dog help, he is all of 90-100 pounds and is 100% the most houndy dog i've seen(personally seen)

look the size of his head compared to my red dog

frank is like i said a very big dog, has a very cold nose , can line out a bad track and put a tree on it, very nice bawl mouth plenty loud. my buddy owns him and i've hunted with him alot, he will be put on bobcats this winter.

That Is a Fine Looking Blue Wade !!! I have a Very large Jet 5 T&B bred hound very Close to me !! Some Jets are rather large but not Quite the Typ of Hound I'am Building .. Just a Different Clash of Genetics .. I just got to Try it !!

I tell ya Stan I haven't heard many Shots today yet . I think with the Smoke Poles shooting like a Rifle now Less fokes are taking off for this part of the season.
I took 10 Pups for a walk yesterday and didn't see a single Deer "Kinda of Strange for my Area" But we needed to Kill about 60 Deer anyway The Herds were way to high.. We don't have any grouth under 5' ..

Reese did very well for her first walk ever !! She casted herself out to 20 to 30 yards with her nose to the ground then looped back around to me then recasted, So I'am seeing some very good actions in her Hunt..

They are Not related to the American Blue Gascon except in very Early Sugar Creek and Smokey River Blues that go back to Bill Green's Stock. This would be the Only Relation to the American Blue Gascon.

But they are related to the "French Grand Blu de Gascogne"

Here is UKC's Bref History of them

This breed was created by Baron Joseph de Carayon-LaTour of Chateau Virelade, who came into possession of the only specimens of the Saintongeois hound to survive the French Revolution (one female and two males). (The Saintongeois is now considered an extinct breed.) These he mated with Grand Bleu de Gascognes from the kennel of the Baron de Ruble. The first-generation offspring were of such magnificent quality that the two men continued to breed in such manner, and the resulting descendants were given the name "Grand Gascon-Saintongeois".

The Grand Gascon-Saintongeois was recognized by the United Kennel Club on January 1, 1993.

And here is a little more indepth Version

It all started with the Hound of Saintonge. The Hound of Saintonge, or Saintongeois, was a specialist at hunting wolves. They were created by crossing the black St.Hubert bloodhound, the white St.Hubert bloodhound (Talbot?),(White Hound of Kings?) and the Saintonge greyhound. Some were crossed on wolves to increase conformation, jaw power and teeth. The Saintongeios had great stamina. One account states that a pack of Saintongeois started a wolf and trailed it for 4 days until they caught and killed it. Multiple accounts were found of wolf races that lasted in the 3-4 day range. Saintongeois owners were known to be very jealous, to the point of being stingy. These hounds ran 24 � 28 inches tall, which was considered very large at that time. Because of the great amount of hunt drive, their extreme cold trailing ability and fine nose, their glued to the track nature, their ease of discipline and packing up, their noble way of carrying themselves and their tremendous ability to pass on their high quality traits, they were very valuable in making crosses. After the French revolution, there was only three remaining Saintongeois hounds in existence, a bitch and two dogs. In the mid 1800�s, Baron Joseph Latour, bred these three to the Grand Bleus of Baron Von Ruble. the first -generation offspring were of such magnificent quality that the two men continued to breed in such manner, and the resulting descendants were given the name "Grand Gascon-Saintongeois".

This is from an old article: �we find in the Universal Sports Illustrated, 14 January 1906, this description Saintonge dog, which differs little from those given above: "The construction was impeccable, built like greyhounds, they were chest deep, slightly kidney harp, members strong, the feet strong and well made, their very expressive head was elongated and adorned with pendants bypassed and medium length. He is very disciplined and easy to pack. " "The Saintongeois resembles the greyhound" with its distinction, its deep chest, his back slightly curved and narrow ... and its gallop, which places it plain to the forefront after many hours of hunting ".

Also, this: A pack of Gascon Saintongeois of Baron de CARAYON-LATOUR had the honors of the Exposition of 1863 in the "Jardin des Tuileries." She not only won the Grand Prix of Honor packs, but the congratulations of all Veneurs and fit one of the major journals of the time. This was their first public unveiling.

And this: The race can boast of having a Grand Gascon Saintongeois ranked best subject in''Festival VICHY "to 123 packs of Grande and Petite V�nerie.

And this: The former hunting companions of M. de Saint-L�gier cite extraordinary examples: "An old wolf attacked between Saintes and Blaye was taken three days in the mountains of Limousin. Nothing was more beautiful than to see the pack of M. de Saint-L�gier approximate at noonday on limestone plains and barren tract of old wolf, it would sometimes run five or six leagues of decoupling. " To take an old wolf after three consecutive days of racing, it was real hard and these dogs rough dogs in a few years, were not a shadow of themselves.

By the 1980�s, there were less than 10 breeders of the Gascon Saintongeois. At present, there are less than 2,000 Gascon Saintongeois in the whole world.

These Were Very Closely Built in the Same Fasion as the Org. English Fox Hound But a Different Strain of Gray Hound was Used to breed to the St. Huberts Hound (Our Current day Bloodhound)

This Female will be Bred into Our Majestic Line and If I can get an Unrelated Male from France or Semen then She will Produce a Pure Bred litter ..

I thought this was neat we found this in a cutover saturday,my son shot at this deer last year and said it had a funky rack but he thought he missed,we found it 75 yrds away from where he last saw it

Hey guys.
i see you registered your pups with UKC papers.

if any end up being sound movers,
i would LOVE to show them in the all breed shows for you.

the judges love to see the rare working hunting hounds.

they have some super cool markings by the way.
but you know i love those open spotted/calico-eared walkers....so anything different is a plus for me. :-)
