Help - Sick dog!

My 6 year old walker female has been coughing for a while. She breathes heavy and rapidly. Now the last couple of weeks she's lost her appetiate and is getting skinny. I've had her to the vet probably 5 times for this. They treated her with a bacteria infection in her lungs but after many antibiotics shes no better. They sent a sample from her lungs to make sure there wasnt fungus infection but there was none. They tested her blood. She gets coughing and gags. I dunno what else to do wanting some suggestions on what you think could be wrong. Thanks

sick dog

I would change antibiotics and change vets. Have you cleaned and disinfected her kennel area? Sometimes if you dont kill the source it will keep reoccuring. Also look at your dogs bedding and water source. You have to treat them like kids sometimes to really get a good analogy of the problem. Good luck!!

We have a beagle at the house right now doing the same thing, we had her to the vet and they said she has early congestive heart failure. Might want to tell them to check for that....

I bet you're right a couple years ago she had pneumonia and they did a xray on her heart and they said it was one of the largest hearts they ever seen. Wes is there any treatment that they did for your beagle?

She's on a couple of different pills, but they haven't seemed to do much at all

You can give medication to lessen their signs of the disease like Lasix to take the fluid off the abdomen and heart pills to help it pump better but unfortunately there is no cure there is only a prolonging of the inevitable.
