help with milling at the tree

i have a pup that will run and tree a hot track with the old dogs but on a colder working track he will be down milling around. The dog has had about 7 coon knocked out to him.He is around 14 months old and a good tree dog when he trees. Can you give me some pointers to maybe help me tighten him up

cant smell it!!!

the problem is..at 14 months old he cant smell a cold track.he's confused.thats whats going on.he's wondering why the other dog is working the track and tree, and he cant smell it.both my good bluedogs were the same way.they would sail on a hot or medium track..but on a cold one they would have no clue it was there.at 2.5 years of age that was a different story.he's really young at 14 months.just be patient.goodluck..theo.

shoot the coon out to the other dogs and leave him tied back then walk him away and don't let him have any. this seems to fire um up a little the main thing is be patient like they said

I agree, its time to hunt that hound by himself, let him strike run and tree his own Coons.
