I had the pleasure of running against both of this years UKC World Champs. In an AKC final pack 1 week after Chuuby won HB Wld and 2 weeks before PP Wld and those 5 dogs pounded the ground hammer down for I don't know how long. The judges said they have never seen a pack run like that. J-dell and Chubby are Awesome.
Roy's dog isn't bad either. LOL. My hat goes off to this years World Champs.

I've only been in 3 casts this year but i'd have to say the best i was drawn out with was a champion dog Bill McFarland ran @ the last Navarre Ohio hunt dont remember his name but he scored two lines by himself on a half grown rabbit the other two dogs couldnt really do anything with it, and his dog was pushing it around the field basicaly by himself. Had a really good nose and showed alot of determination to drive the little rabbit. He wasnt proud of it but i thought it did a really nice job. I'd have to say coal miner is prbly the nicest dog i've seen run so far this year.

Ohlinger, your dogs would be on this list, if you could keep them off the jail list. LOL

Posted by Jeremy Mapes on 10-30-2009 09:52 PM:

I would have to say that coal miner is one of the best alla round hounds I've seen this year. I really like Roys Chubby hound to from what I've seen of him.

I had the pleasure of judging some good dogs at the PP world but two stood out and that was Clemens Little Biscuit and Sundown Black Bow. Both of these dogs were some nice hounds and I told their owners the same.

Yeah they did 210 - 200. Both dogs were more than desrving of moving on to the next round. Me and the other judge and both handlers knew it was going to be close before the scores were added up. I ran my butt off in that cast

There are some GOOD hounds out there for sure!!!! I can not pick one dog out, but I can tell you what casts come to mind when I think of GOOD hounds.

One is the Performance Pack National Run Off. Dogs in that final cast were Glomskis Thunder Run J Dell, Clemens Bunny Bustin Curly, and Willow Creek Bustin Blue Boy. THAT WAS AWESOME!!!!!! THEY LOCKED ON!!!!!

Another cast is when I judged a Grand cast at the Performance Pack Nationals. Two dogs stood out and took me and another judge to our knees. Those two dogs were Clemens Tuff Little Biscuit and Suddeths Mississipps Homie.

Another is the winners pack at the Hoosier Coal Mine Classic. 15'' male class. That winners Pack POUNDED. Dogs that placed in that winners pack were Brankos Cubby Checkers, Barcus Ohio River Tuck, Brankos Olympus, Glomskis Thunder Run J Dell, and M and M Rocky Road.

I know there are alot of other good dogs out there, but these are the casts that I remember most of 2009.

The dog that has beet my dogs the most this year is probably M and M Rocky Road.

J-Dell is a special hound I'm just glad I get the opportunity to run with him all the time. That final at the AKC hunt was awesome piece of dog work.

I would have to say Owen Dagostine's hound: Dagostine's Big Brutus Bawls. One heck of a hound, and you better hope your hound has its "A" game when your draw this dog!

Performance Pack semi -final this years World. It came down to Mississippi Homie, Clemens Tuff Little Biscuit and Glomskis J-Dell. Those dogs pounded!!! J-Dell beat Homie on a tie breaker and went on to win the World. Awsome cast!!!! Felt like a final cast!!!

Best cast I have ever seen was the Black Gold run-off 2 years ago in PP. Sundown Black Bow and Whitney Hill Daisey those 2 put on a show in 90 minutes scored over 800 points with only 30 points seperating them we ran 80 minutes non-stop without 30 seconds of silence. Talk about 2 dogs pounding it was awsome.

In Hunting Beagle - 2 years ago I drew a 3 dog cast with White River Issabelle, Mitch Goulds Kita and Sundown Triple Threat. WOW!!! after about an hour and a half we had over 800 points on the card and only 30 points seperated 1st to 3rd. The hounds pounded that day!!!

Posted by s.corn on 11-03-2009 12:36 PM:

best dog ive ran with has to be brian unroe's "ohio river tuck".... for being a 13in hound running primarily with 15in dogs, he can flat put on a show....

Is the post to patt yourself on the back or what ? I guess my missy dog or any pups out of her are my favorite.

Posted by Sundown Beagles on 11-04-2009 12:56 PM:

Hey lets not turn this post into a bashing contest. This is a great post.
In order to have a GREAT cast you need alot of things to work together. Like plenty of rabbits, dogs working together, the ability to see the rabbit and so on. I like reading this to see the pairings that made a person like a certain hound.
In my 3 casts that I mentioned - The first one I had no dogs in it but it left such an impression because of each hound contributed to the race to make it a nonstop hammer down. Each of those 3 hounds were deserving to win.
The other two I had hounds in because in less your judgeing PP your probably going to include your hound because thats how you drawed out.
Kita won that cast and she deserved it. I think both Mitch and Vandergrift would agree that it was a fun cast to watch.
Would like to hear more about what some consider their best cast and the dogs that impressed them.
