How too put a handle on dog??

i need help too put a handle on a female that i just bought.she is 17 months old and can flat drive a rabbit, however she is very shy.i cant get her caught without feeding her half my lunch.lol..can someone exsplain how they do it.i am considering buying the tri tronics trashbreaker.i went out with a guy the other day and all he had to do was make his collars sing and they would be at your feet in short order.thanks..

Tri Tronics may be the wrong way to go with a shy dog. If you just got her give some time to get to know you first.

handle...

to handle a shy dog with force is the wrong way....

if you are really impressed with her, spend the time earning her trust.

bring her in the house, reinforce her with positive feedback everytime she comes to you, and do it everyday...

even with the best of effort she might always be shy, but the more time you spend with her the greater chance you have of earning her trust.

one last thing, to be a responsible breeder (if you ever think you might breed her) you must ask yourself why she is shy??? Its my thought that 95% of all shy dogs are due to their environment (caused by events around them) and 5% are due to genetics. more then likely your dogs problem is due to something in her environment but if its genetics i wouldn't raise pups out of her. If its environmental, make sure when pups are born make sure you handle them every day and spend as much time with them. A shy mother can create shy pups, they will begin to mock the way their mother acts whenever a human approaches if you leave it up to her to mold their opinions of humans.

WE HAVE HAD FEW SHY OR SKIDDISH HOUNDS , WHAT WE DO IS PUT THEM A CHAIN BY THE BACK DOOR TO THE HOUSE AND PET THEM EVERYTIME WE GO IN OR OUT, WE ALSO ASK WHO EVER COMES OVER TO PET THEM UP ALSO. WE HAVE TAMED DOWN SOME REALLY LOONEY DOGS DOING THIS. THE SHOCK COLLAR IS GOOD FOR A HARD HEADED DOG ,NOT A SHY ONE. IMO

I use a 25ft check cord in the yard, so they can run on it. I call them and tug on cord until they come to me, then make a fuus over them and give a treat. 15 to 20 minutes a day works wonders. also playing with kids is another way. When you go to field, carry a little sack of cut up hot dogs.

I agree. I've done this on several occasions and it works every time.
