jacking tree?

I got an old dog that insists on running and jumpin up on the tree, for the second time now he has come down on a stick and ends up gashing his chest wide open. just wondering if there is a certain kind of vest anybody uses to help prevent this from happening. I just figured buying a vest may prevent hundreds of dollars in vet bills and maybe save the dogs life someday. My girlfriend picked one up at cabelas but it just dont cover much or protect anything really. any thoughts would be apreciated.

It's pretty cheap too, we got one for our bluetick that jumped up on the tree and they have them in camo and blaze orange...hope this helps

If you want to go the vest route, you might look t a "cut vest" for hog dogs, they buckle on the back; I know Nite Light sells them and maybe valley creek. Tom

HEY

A VEST WILL HELP BUT. IF YOU WILL START TYING HIM BACK AT EVERYTREE FOR 10-15 MINUTES BEFORE YOU SHOW HIM ANY ATTENTION OR SHOOT IN TREE OR ANYTHING IT WILL HELP. HANG ON TO THE LEASH AND EACH TIME HE TRYS TO JUMP JUST TUG ON IT A LITTLE. KEEP DOING THIS OVER AND OVER AND MAYBE JUST MAYBE HE'LL STOP. IT HAS WORKED ON SEVERAL DOGS FOR ME. I DONT LIKE TO SHOW A DOG OF THIS TYPE ANY ATTENTION AT ALL ON THE TREE. IT SEEMS TO MAKE EM WORSE WHEN YOU PET ON EM WHILE THERE TREEING. LET HIM HAVE HIS COON OR WHATEVER AND LEAD HIM OFF THE TREE A LITTLE PIECE TILL HE SETTLES DOWN AND THEN LOVE HIM UP SOME.

JUST THOUGHT I WOULD TRY TO HELP.
GOOD LUCK.

I am still working with my 6 yr old male on this. I use to have a cut vest I ran on my hog dogs till I lost it in the move. When I get to the tree I find a decent size tree and try and use the majority of the lead to tied him back and as low to the ground as I can. He is gettin the point but still jacks when I get there.

This takes time and sometimes never brakes a hard tree dog. DONT USE TRI TRONICS I seen a buddy ruin a dog that was jacking one night and ended up puttin it down on the next drop casue it wouldnt get out the box.

Shocker

You have to be careful. My male jacks and I started on low keeping him to the ground with it. and he is loose on the tree to an extent, but I also did it with company, and now he doesn't stay treed if he gets covered

I hook the leadstrap to my dog and when he runs up the tree I jerk him back off a few times doing that he should get the message
