Off The Injury List.....

I took Pride off the injury list last night after church and hit the woods..... I had Pride and Shooter had Ruby.

First drop they strike a trail around and around on it then finally get it moving on out and hit up about 700 yards away. We start to them and they pull about 50 yards deeper. When we get to them they are split treed about 10 yards apart one on a big oak and the other on a old den tree with the top broke out. No eyes seen in the Oak tree.

Second drop they strike about 400 yards away and work just a lil ways and come treed. Split treed again. Pride on a SLICK tree and No eyes seen in Ruby's tree. We leash them up and head down the creek. I asked Shooter if he was cutting loose again. He said NO! This was around 11:30pm.
Opppps I must Have heard YES!!! I cut Pride loose down the creek and then he cut Ruby.. I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO SHOOTER !!!!!!!!!!!

Ruby strikes a track in front of us and right handed a lil. They trail away from us and hit one of the many roads on the stateland we were hunting. They trail out the road about 200 yards and then back into the woods. From the road they went another 300 yards or so before they treed solid..... When we get to the tree i see eyes looking back at me and tell Shooter I see them. He walks over to see the coon and then goes to catch a young dog he has with us. When I turn back to roll Mr.Coon out to the dogs for a job well done its NOWHERE to be seen. We looked and looked but never could get it to look again. When we started for the truck I check it on the Garmin and the truck is JUST 1.2 miles away as the crow flies. But I don't walk like a crow flies. By the time we made it back to the truck we had walked 2.4 miles. ANYONE WANT TO COME FOR A HUNT ???

I didn't get back to my house until around 4:00 am.. It's a good thing I was off for a root canal today and didn't have to get up for work this morning.......

PS : Sorry Larry no pictures were taken.

LOL

Now

That is coon hunting the way it goes more so than not. We have to take the good with the bad and those bad nights are most of the time rough for sure. Thanks for sharing Dennis. Still loving that Garmin of mine for sure.
