Is this true?
I had a buddy tell me that his uncle shot a coon out of a tree, when they were younger, and it fell and hit the dog in the head and killed it.
Come on!! seriously there's no way I could imagine this happening.
Eric
IT DOES HAPPEN. I HAVE SEEN A DOG GET HIT IN THE HEAD BY A COON AND BE KNOCK OUT.
A BUDDY OF MINE HAD A COON HIT HIS DOG IN THE HEAD A MONTH LATER HE FOUND HER DEAD IN HER DOG HOUSE.

Never had it to happen, but have heard
some say it happened to them.Guess a 8 pound coon would make a hard thump from thirty feet up.
LOL
Watch it will happen to me this year, knowing my luck.
Eric
i've heard of people getting hit in the head and hurt bad, without a doubt it could kill you or the dog if it hit you hard enough in the right place.
I always tie the dogs back and also i'm getting back myself when we're shooting them out.

I have been hit square in the head by coons that bailed out of the tree not once, but twice. Nearly, knocked me off my feet both times.
The first time I think it took my wife an hour to stop laughing ... I still owe her for that too.

I miss Mayberry,

and tan.
We have on average 25 pound coons around here biggest ive seen is 45 but if that fell on a dogs head from 30 feet id say it would do some damage a guy i hunt with is very carfull about it with pups he says hes ruined good dogs from a coon hitting them when they fell out never killed a dog thow but i aint saying it cant happen

can
Situation,
Coon falls from a tree at around 25-30 feet, falls on a dog, across the back across the hips, Broken back dislocated hip. Can it happen, in a heart beat. Seen it.
I always tie the dogs off when a coon is being shot out. If you every see it happen, you will tie the dogs back.
my son had one hit him and roll him down a ditch bank ,wasnt funny then but is now
Never heard
of it happening. But I can see where 15 lbs dropped on a dogs head from 35' could kill it.

Tree my dog.
What happened to that coons tail?
Looks like all its hair fell out.
It was Thunder St. Nick a few years back, one great stud he was. Had to be put down with the broke back. It can happen, as others said, tie the dogs back away where the coon can't fall on em'. Then be sure you are out of the way as well.
