Yo!

That is a big one! We went to the knott county trail ride in Knott Co., Ky. Saw a man kill one a little bigger than that one. He has a towing comp. come in with a roll back and hawl it out! Was the biggest thing I had ever seen. Looks like Eastern KY is where the Elk are for sure.

Just go to Sw Va and buy a Va deer hunting Lis. In Va that's all you need to kill one. They come across the mtn into Va in the counties of Wise and Lee that I know of and maybe a couple more.

we talked with several local folks that said there were some huge bulls hanging around town.

GA Dawg, my nephew lives in TN, this was his first year in the draw. I talked with 4 or 5 other folks that put in first time this year and got drawn. I've put in every year and can't even get a sniff. The draw is computerized now with no prefferance to were you live.

Well I'm gonna start putting in..Cant never tell and its alot closer than out west!! Do you have to know somebody to let you hunt or what?

Thought I just read somewhere they only draw 4 tags and
raffle another one off in Kentucky. Think I read the raffle tag
went for $17,000.

GA DAWG>>> just pay for you a hunt out in new mexico. they already have the permits.

seems like there are a few states where you just get a out of state license and wma permit and you are set to go. maybe arkansas, missouri, or round there.

or I can put Andy on one of those virginy bulls and he can run it all the way back to georgia, where you can be waiting on stand.

if you want to hunt elk in new mexico units 34 or 35, you had better start putting in for the draw right now..i have been drawn 2 times in 10 years. i guided there for a little while. awesome bulls and lots of them. unit 34 is the lincoln nat. forrest and it is a great unit. 35 is the mescalaro indian reservation. about 10,000 for a hunt there. you can buy a ranch tag in 34 for about 3500 plus liscense and fees. its about a 7000 hunt if you buy a tag. you need to draw a tag to make it possible unless you got some serious change.

I knew I read that just had the ststes mixed up! Wow! Didn't
know Kentucky had that many elk! We have some in Wisconsin
and I think they might give out a couple tags or were talking
about it but I'm don't figure we'll ever have to many with all
the wolves.

if you go out ga 85 there is a cattle ranch out there with a 10' fence and it is full of red stags, a little smaller than the elk, but are still an awsome animal. antlers are bigger than the animals.
