cur prices

Greetings, I have one bmc that I have no intention of selling. I might add to the pack down the road and have for the most part only seen pups for sale. They seem to go for $200-300 on average. I will likely breed mine or buy another pup but I am curious how prices would compare if a 1-2 yr. old dog was started or finished on coons and squirrels. By finished I dont mean perfect but consistently trees both without giving the handler any real issues to worry about.

They are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them. That varies. The price on this board runs cheaper than on www.sqdog.com . Maybe, the quality is not as good.

The price of any good stay put squirrel dog is high. The good ones are hard to find.

There is no perfect squirrel dog.

Josh in your case finding a started or broke Ladner bred Blackmouth Cur in itself is no easy take because the people that have them as a rule keep them especially oince they get to running and treeing their own game so putting a price on something like that is really hard.

You obvisiouly are fairly new to the dog game.The reason I say that is IMO,a dog that is consistanly treeing coons and squirell is a finished dog for all practical intents and purposes.That is a 1.5 to 2 year old dog.If it has manged to live that long and eat my food and is turning the crank and treeing consistantly,you are going to dig into your pockets because at that stage of the game I will have invested a considerable amount of boot leather,dog feed,health care, into the dog,gas money,.22 shells,and this is not to mention the orginal purchase price of the pup.A man could easily have $1,000 plus by 2 years of age wrapped up.You will not be buying that dog from me for pennies on the dollar.Loyd brings up a good point concerning the Ladner curs.They are hard enough to find let alone a well started or finished dog.The bright side to this is the are very easy to start.You hunt them,they will start.My advice to you is to,if you can,is to locate people who have finished adult dogs and go see them in action.If you like what you see,breed your female.

squirrel dogs

Seems to me squirrel dogs are higher than a good bear dog.
