Tailgate Adventures 2nd Episode
I just got through watching Tailgate Adventure's second episode. It was great, a NKC competition squirrel hunt. It should help our sport gain popularity when folks see what competition squirrel hunting with dogs is all about. The show featured 2 Champion Mt Curs that really put on a show. A lot of split trees with the meat, just what you liked to see. And, some great sportsmanship, competitors finding their competition's squirrels. I think 7-8 squirrels were scored. Either dog could eat my dog food. I have taped a lot of squirrel hunting over the years and have never done as good as camera work and editing as this show presented. (Of course, I am not a professional).
If you haven't seen this show, it is a must see episode. Hats off to the Tailgate Adventure folks!
I think all of you competition coon hunters should watch the show. You will see that competition squirrel hunting is very similar to competition coon hunting and you might want to get a squirrel dog.

I WATCHED THE SHOW AND REALLY ENJOYED IT.
Thought the comments about com. squirrel hunters being better sprtsmen than coonhunters interesting....especially right after being treed next to a no trespassing sign.
I am going to print what I feel is the truth on the honesty issue. I have competed in many, many coon hound, beagle, and squirrel dog competition casts in several different registries. On the average, squirrel dog cast members are by far the most honest. I am not saying all squirrel dog competition hunters are honest, but, in my opinion, the squirrel dog hunters are more honest and better sportsmen than the others. The coon hunters can be honest but I sure have been to the woods with some just plain cheats. There are some beaglers and beagle clubs are downright cheats. Yes, I have been on honest casts with coon hunters and beaglers.
As for the dogs on posted grounds, whose dogs have not crossed on posted ground at one time or another? It happens.

I had my DVR record the episode and watched it a little bit ago. My episode was mostly mute, and a couple times a technical difficulties message popped up. The commercials all were fine, but for the show all I could get out of it was that there were 2 squirrel champion curs in a cast together at a competition hunt. I really enjoy watching curs work, even if it is on tv.
Did anyone else have these problems??

Just all 'round , meat gettin' hounds.
I liked it! My dogs all went crazy when they heard the dogs on TV barking. Lol It was neat to see how a competition squirrel hunt goes. Looking forward to the coonhounds next week!
As far as the squirrel hunters being more honest... Well its kind of hard to lie when its broad daylight out and the critter is jumping around in the tree. Not trying to bash anyone, JMO.

geeez...my post was sarcastic.
I enjoyed the show.
Im not sure why a program introducing squirrel hunting to entry level people felt the need to air a comment like that...dosent mater if it is true or not.
No big deal, just found that a curious comment.
Josh,
The polished reflex angle of the camera lens make people say funny, wierd, or even sometimes untruthful things ... why else would politicians say many of the ridculuous things they say????

It is not a daylight thing on the lieing and cheating. 2 buddies can see a squirrel that is not there or not see one that is there the same as at night. The slick trees are circled in the daytime if a dog stays where at night, on an honest cast, the slick trees are supposed to be minussed. It is that for some reason, competition squirrel hunting seems to draw better sportsmen at this time.

How come it was not on Oct 7th like they advertised ?
They had another show on. I have it programed on dish to record anytime it comes on now.
First....
Thanks to everyone for the kind comments about the show! There is a whole lot of work that goes into production of one episode....and we have 11 more "BRAND NEW" episodes coming at you!
If you had technical difficulties, that is beyond our control, but the good news is that the episode will be on again on Friday evening, then again on Sunday.....YOU HAVE TWO MORE CHANCES!
Next...
The show is ONLY available on ICTV (Incountrytelevision) on channel 230 on DISH network. Providing we have sponsorship for the next quarter, we will be airing on both DISH and Direct starting in January. Understand that this is depends on SPONSORSHIP, so if you enjoy the show....contact our sponsors and let them know you saw them on Tailgate adventures.
Last...
Please understand that the comments made about "coon hunters" were made by the contestants in the squirrel hunt, and not by any member of the Tailgate Adventures team.... We are here to tell a story with each episode. The good sportsmanship demonstrated during this episode is a GOOD example. Let's face it..hound hunters are some pretty opinionated folks, and they are not afraid to share their opinions with anyone who will listen.
While we may or may not "agree" with an opinion, it is certainly worth listening to and recognizing that the opinion is out there and is being expressed.
I can't speak to how these two hunters came to form that opinion, be it first hand experience, or by "word of mouth"...shoot, who knows...they may have read a dozen or so of the "I GOT CHEATED LAST NIGHT" posts that show up on this message board every Saturday and Sunday without fail.
We will continue to bring you some fine hound and tree dog action in the following weeks.

Thanks for the hard work you guys do. I still think there may be an audiance for home made videos folks can make and send for you guys to edit and use on a show. I am sure everyone has seen the America's Funniest Home Video show. All folks would have to do is put their videos on a DVD and send the DVD to you. That is very easy these days. Lots of guys have camcorders these days. I can give you a URL of a beagle board that has new home videos of guy's beagles posted almost daily. Some of them are very good videos. I like the way you guys do your videos, very professional. I just think their may be an audiance for home made videos. There are lots of them on the internet.
As for my opinions, anyone reading this board or any of the other beagle, squirrel dog, or coon dog boards that I post on knows very well that that I don't hesitate to post my honest opinions. Yeah, I stir some guys up but I often get good honest opinions in reply.
Keep up the good work. You would think UKC, PKC, and NKC would consider sponsoring your show. Try Toyota, they sell trucks to hunters. You need some sponsors with deep pockets. Every hunter needs a gun, try some gun manufactuers.
Sportsmanship is where you find it. Those squirrel hunters were good sportmen.

I dont mean any offense to anyone but i havent enjoyed either episode yet, i thought they have been kinda hookie so far, i mean the majority of the hunters already know whats going on, me personally i dont need the all the commentating, i really appreciate all the hard work thats gone into this and look foward to the other shows, im not here trying to ruin the show but i know you want honest feed back too. Im a firm believer in the show its just when your host comes i put it on mute. Thats just my thought. I mean lets face it the first episode was not exciting at all, its hard to make coon hunting on tv exciting, i thought the squirrel hunt was more action packed, im really waiting on some bear, coyote, hog, and deer hunts with hounds thats when it should be more exciting, but as far as making a coon hunt more exciting i honestly dont know how i would do it. Let me express again im not trying to make anyone mad or put down the show i thought i would offer an opinion other than "i love the show"
thanks
