I finally saw it -a coon crossed between trees that didn't touch!

Second tree last night and I find ole Frito treed on a little aspen sapling about as big around as my wrist. The shame of it all I thought! Before giving him a piece of my mind I look up and there is a big northern coon hanging in the branches of that sapling. Frito is raising heck down below and this coon wanted nothing of it so the coon slowly inched his way higher. I thought he'd fall for sure but no he didn't. That sapling started to bend ever so slowly as he climbed and the more he climbed the more it bent until the coon was about horizontal just out of my reach. Then that bugger reached out and grabbed a long, thin little branch extending from a somewhat bigger aspen and like a trapeze artist, pulled himself across.

Well the little sapling he started out on snapped back into position, and of course Frito the good treedog he is stayed where he was supposed to stay on the sapling. Had my walk been a little longer to the tree I would have thought he pulled up short.

It rained and I didn't carry my camera or I'd have it all on here.

It is truly amazing to watch if you've never seen it.

But don't ask me to give it to you on a night hunt.

I've actually seen one in a big gum tree inched his way out on a smaller limb the limb weighted down on the end until it touched a limb from the next tree over out he crossed when he got off the limb of the gum it swung back up into it's origianal position about 2 feet away from the limb he crossed on. we were squalling and he seemed very nervous. He made his final cross that night RIP ole' RICKY LOL

anybody thats had a coon for a pet will know just how far a coon can jump.. i had one jump from the back of the couch to the back of the recliner...i'm guessing it was close to 4ft..this coon only weighed about 5lbs at the time..

Seen a dog moving down a fence line treeing, we figured she was moving which she was. When we looked up we realised what she was doing, the coon was climbing from tree to tree in the fence and she was moving along as it went.

I'd like to apologize.....

I like to issue a formal apology to everyone I've ever hunted a dog for..... I told you your dog was slick treeing and after reading this I realize I was wrong. Man.... I can't believe I scolded all those dogs. Oh well.... sometimes I learn the hard way...lol!
