A coondog is gone.

I got home from work today and found my friend, and best COONDOG I HAVE EVER OWNED, had passed on.

Slim Lawyer or "SLIM" was 11yrs old, he was and is my measuring stick.I bought him from Steve Conger and Mike McComber when he was a pup, and he didn`t know anything about treeing a coon. But he made a very well balanced coon treeing machine!I have seen him show a many a dog which way Mr.Coon went, and he would have the meat when he stopped and treed,I knew this day was coming, but I guess your never ready for it....

Rest in peace old friend.......

Sorry to hear that Mike, he was a real good looking dog. These good old house bred hounds are getting fewer all the time.

Mike...............

Sorry to hear about your hound, I know you really liked him.
Did you ever get any pups from him or have him collected ?

Take care.......................Tim

Thanks everyone for your sympathy,I really appreciate it.

The bond between a hunter and their hounds is something not everyone understands.I have always gotten close to my dogs,I like raising them and watching them develope, and some are "special".....That is what Slim was.....

I remember 1 hunt with Slim,it was kill season and me and my friend Bill O`Banion turned Slim loose in a favorite spot. After about 20 minutes of sitting on the tail gate without hearing anything, we checked the tracker and found out he was over by the next road.We drove around and we could hear him treein` every breath!I went in to him and he was standing in a creek with his front feet up on a tree that had fallen into another tree on the bank of the creek. You could see the wet foot prints of the coon on the side of the fallen tree.I searched the tree and found the coon!We couldn`t believe what we saw,the prettiest Albino coon I have ever seen! This is a picture of the coon,it hangs on the wall of my family room and I will always have the memories of all the hunts and fun of hunting Slim.
