female is in heat on about 8-9 day of cycle male won't mount just sniffs around put him in there about 3 days agowhich she was still bleeding he would try now he just sniffs any sugestiions the male is 8 and he has breed before

That happened to us this spring. Went to the vet and found out she was too far along in her heat cycle & the male had lost interest.
This heat cycle, I took her in to the vet as soon as I could get her in after she started bleeding. Did a progesterone test and it showed she was only a couple days away from ovulation. We got a tie 2 days later. Maybe 5 days after we first noticed bleeding.
Our vet says some females bleed so lightly at first that it's easy to miss. So they end up being further along the cycle than you think they are. She suggests blotting her with a white tissue every couple days when you know she's due to come into heat so you don't miss that first sign.
