Let me say this, the media twisted what I said. They ask me what the value of my dogs were and I said I could not put a value on my dogs, but Banjo was qualified for the PKC World Hunt where he would be competing for 30,000 dollars. You heard the rest!!

I was hoping they would play more of ICO Jeff Wells comments.
Some of his statements were very good for coonhunters.

He commented on the level of commitment that hunters have to their dogs, hunters spend a lot of money on equipment to keep track of their dogs, hunters want to recover their dogs as much as landowners want the dog recovered or off their property. He stated that coonhounds are sporting dogs, accompanied by hunters in the field, that they are well trained and meaningful not only as pets but more importantly a hunting companion. All good stuff. I would also add that Officer Wells was on his day off and came out in uniform anyway.

Folks, the HTDA is making strides to improve these relationships. I have been working as a conservation officer for 19 years. Ten years ago we could not have had this much positive press for this tragic event.

The DNR is taking notice of the efforts towards youth education, public service and we are beginning to be recognized as a legitimate conservation group in Indiana.

The key ingredient we are missing: your membership. If you are not a member or you have not renewed your membership ( it expired on Labor Day) we need your membership. The HTDA needs help putting on youth programs at our sponsor clubs, participation at youth hunts on DNR Properties. We need you and your support today.

Thanks in advance, together we can take coonhunting in the Hoosier state to the top and secure it's future for future generations.

Hats off...

Hats off to Brad, Chris and the ITDA.... I caught it on channel 8 news last evening!

Its a start in educating the general public of OUR laws as dog owners!

Thank you for supporting our sport of hunting and the love of dogs!

Everyone

Read the story, and read the comments on wishtv. I'll be mailing my membership in to HTDA this week. People don't understand our sport, and it will get worse before it get's any better.

Anthony,

I tried to get some press for you and Cody and your dog. The reporters edited all of it out. They were looking for the story about a man and his dog....aaaawwww it was so sweet!

Thats okay, we were hunting land that we have been hunting for 25 years and we take care of the 82 year old lady that owns it. She loves my dad like a son and I am there all the time making sure her propane has gas, her water running, uncloggin her camode. I have not check out the comments but I will, everyone has a comment, but it does not mean nothing.

your hound

Brad,
I really feel bad for you and your hounds, that is truly the worst nite hunting anyone can have.I will be watching this close. I don't know what can be done ,but willing to help anyway I can.
I joined the H.T.D.A. just for this reason when Bill Herrell got his coyote dogs shot. The H.T.D.A. was there for him.
Top hound or __it eater we are in this together.

I was in a compition hunt and three dogs were shot one was killed and two were wounded. The guy who owned the dog that was killed filled a civil suit and went on for about a year. After all this was done the guy was charged with nothing and had to pay nothing. They come up we didn't have permission to be in his property wich was on the edge of a old cannal that the dogs were running. The gentleman said he feared for his life and went in and got is shotgun and came back out and shot the dogs.

The story was he heard barking and he went outside and the dogs were after the cat and then the dogs growled ant him and he went inside and got his gun. But when we asked about the cat he ended up telling us the cat was inside the whole time. This was in winter and about 11:00 and probably about five degrees out and he was in his pagammas. He said he shot from his front door at the dogs. But we found feet print and shot shells by his barn 50to 60 yards away in the snow by the dead dog so we know he ran these dogs down and shot them. I still don't understand how his life could of been in threat if he was able to go inside grab his gun and chase dogs down to shoot them.

The 82 year old lady?

Mr. Hall, you mentioned how you "take care of the 82 year old lady that owns it. She loves my dad like a son and I am there all the time making sure her propane has gas, her water running, uncloggin her camode."

I think I know that lady. Betty G? I've been over there myself with my chain saw and cut away brush from her house and buildings. I've picked up packages for her. My son cleans her gutters. My wife bought and replaced her mailbox when it was damaged (yes, we bought a new one at our own expense). When she said there was no gas in her car, my wife drove her old red car through a snow storm with no wipers to get her fuel and some groceries. Last week when she called our house she asked if I knew where "Al" was. I told her I didn't, not knowing even WHO "Al" was. Now I maybe see that is your father?

However, I'm not a hunter. Never hunted in my life. So I don't "benefit" from the use of her land. She's just a neighbor, and people watch out for each other. The ironic thing about this is that I am also the man whose dog was attacked by your animals that night. And yes, I am the person who was forced to shoot your dog.

Does anyone here in their right mind really think I had anything against your dog? When - in full darkness - you see your family pet being attacked, your little girl crying, dogs with flashing collars running all over your porch and driveway, and knowing your wife could be coming home in just minutes into that same driveway, what would you do? I feared not just for my own safety, but for hers.

It's real macho to talk about burning my house down or tying me to a tree. Really impressive. But what would you have done?

I'm not against you, Mr. Hall. I don't care if you hunt raccoons. I DO care about my family and my home. I wish this had never happened, and I wish I had not had to be outside alone with those dogs. I wasn't looking for trouble, but it came to me. In my own home, on my own property. And sir, I am genuinely sorry for your loss.

well well did the dogs even hurt ur house dog and did u ever think that he (ur dog) may have started it and well u could have called to police instead of shoot the darn animal and told ur wife (witch u never mintioned on the news all u said was ur life was threatened and they atacked ur dog) to wait a min to come home or something and on here we never said that we will burn ur house down and ty u to a tree atleast on this thread and sorry i still dont beleive aword u say

thank u very much

good day

To all my hunting allumini's out there. I donot condone, the talk of burning any mans house down, tying to a tree or anything else for that matter, I am asking anyone that has said this or wants to say anything out of context to please edit or not say it, its not right and I donot agree with this kind of talk.
