Score it

2nd Drop with 95 min to hunt
Three dog cast.
Open Registered.

Dog A - 1st Strike (Already has 225+)(Guides Dog)
Dog B - 2nd Strike (Already has 150+)
Dog C - No Strike (Already has 200+)(Judges Dog)

Dog A grubbs a Track for 20 minutes or so, then begins to lacate time after time, but is clearly moving a LITTLE bit. Judge Starts the Stationary after 10 or so minutes of this, when Dog A quits moving. Dog B is barely opening on track the entire time (approx. 6 barks total). About 3 min. into the stationary time Dog B comes in and gets treed.

Dog A - No Tree
Dog B - 1st Tree
Dog C - No tree

5 minutes is started on the tree and at 1 min. the judge starts the 2 min. on dog B. 2 min gets dog B and dog A is still locating in the same spot as Dog B was treed. There was plenty of time for the 5 min for the stationary to expire (a little over 6 min). After Dog B gets minused Dog A is treed 5 is ran, and cast proceeds to the tree. When cast arrives Dog A is on the tree, Dog B is standing there looking at the cast, and Dog C is now where. Dog B comes to it's handler and is told to handle the dogs. Dog C comes in and is handled.

After extensive Squalling and shinning NO coon is seen. It is in a bushy, 50' tall, feild side, single post oak. You can shine the whole tree, except for a couple of small forks. It does not run into another tree, and there are no holes appearant.

Score it.

New at this so first question: what has guides dog and judges dog got to do with the scoring of this?

I can't score a tree circle or minus on a message board. However most are going to vote to score it how benefits them so I know how this will go on 95% of the casts. Handler A definitely wants it circled. Handler B doesn't want it scored as a slick because his dog was there when the cast arrived and would get assigned tree points and minused both ways. Handler C wants it scored as a slick but he's outvoted. Circle it.

Sounds like everything to that point was done right. Dog B broke the stationary for Dog A and that is correct.

Who the dog belongs to does not matter, but sometimes it influences the call.

Dog B was minused on the tree, and never barked from the time the judge started the 2 on it until after the cast arrived and started shining. I thought the dog has to be showing tree in order to get next avaiable position. Dog B never even offered to look at it.

OK I run and judge NSTRA Trails so I am not use to a judge being allowed to run in a trail(cast) he judges. (LIKE I SAID I'M NEW TO THIS SO BEAR WITH ME)

B is minused on strike only. C gets nothing and A I would have to be there to say circle or minus.

Here is how we done it.

**Slick Tree**
Dog A * 225-
Dog B * 125- from tree 75- track
Dog C * Nothing

Total Scores:
Dog A - 0 (225+/225-)
Dog B - 50- (150+/200-)
Dog C - 200+ (200+/0-)

67 minutes used
28 minutes left to hunt, time out called.

Lets see what kind of replies we have. I'll post the last drop in a little while.

I wondered about that too and you're probably right. Dog B wasn't treeing when the judge arrived, as the rule requires.

In that case, Handler B might vote that its a slick tree. Handler C probably would also.

So now Dog A gets minused both ways.
Dog B gets his strike circled.
Dog C wasn't struck in so he gets nothing.

Dog B gets minused on strike becaue it quit its track, I thoght. What else would you do with it, just delete it.

Dog A - for slick tree
Dog B - for being treed and the 2 got it and wasn't retreed before the 5
Dog C nothing would happen because he wasn't struck or treed and no coon was seen and dog came into tree but did not tree wouldn't have mattered either way whether he did or not because the tree was dead.

Also, JMO it shouldn't matter what the point standings are or anything like that. call the tree for what it is. i've seen people withdraw with a 500+ score card and the closest person to them had 200- the guy didn't think his dog deserved the win which he shouldn't have put the dog in the hunt to begin with. but CALL THE TREE FOR WHAT IT IS!!!!

Dog B never barked treed after the 2 got it. It could not have been treed.
