I'd say just about every cast will hunt off of them. I also think the cast members will know they are hunting on them.

with the weather the way it has been,could be a long night if you aint hunting feeders.first they got to find water that aint flooded out of the banks.calling for hard rains again fri-sat on this side the mountain.river bottoms are under water already.

Feeders in Mountain Territory DO NOT guarantee a good track. Just another excuse if a walker does win it. All the owners off different breeds will blame it on feeders. Last time i checked all dogs are cut at the same time and have the same chance as any dog regardless of breed.

Some dogs are used to hunting off feeders and some are not. Bottom line is those that hunt off feeders should have an advantage.

But they still all have to tree a coon to win. I think its much more important that guides are drawn to casts randomly and that someone doesn't get to hunt THEIR OWN feeders.

Them northern dogs better hope they draw some feeders!!!!!! Atleast then they might get a wiff of a coon....LOL...
If I was there it would not bother me in the least to draw feeders on this hunt..All you gotta do is beat what you draw..We aint worried about a high score..Plus some people on here dont have a clue as to what feeder bucket hunting even is in the south...I guess they imagine coons in every tree sitting around the feeder..Kinda like a cornfield in Indiana! Well it aint like that...

hunting off of feeders in Tn. is illegal. There is no flooded creeks around rogersville. I have read on many post lately about the rain, and flooded timber. We have had some rain, but east Tn is well drained!!!! Water wont stand on the side of a hill.

Since hunting off feeders is illegal in Tn., what is UKC's policy if a cast is caught hunting off a feeder. Would the cast be scratched?

It is NOT illegal to place bait on private land in TN. A competition hunt is a "field trial", the participants are not hunting in the sense of seeking to kill game. If they were "hunting" they would need a license. It will be no problem.

I've read comments in reference to hunting the "Mountains" in TN during the World Hunt. I highly doubt any cast will be taken to the mountains. Competition hunters around here avoid the mountains like the swine flu. Mostly the casts will be taken to farms with rolling hills, lake bottoms, and river bottoms. There are a few mountain coon hunters left but not many. The bear hunters are about the only folks left that really hound hunt the mountains.

Rogersville is a great club and their guides will be putting the casts in coons as best they can.

i have personally hunted in rock throwing distance of the world hunt grounds in rogersville as well as all around rogersville tn
and those boys don't have nothing to worry about with or without coon feeder they will tree coons i have done it personally.

a game warden that is a friend of my family's told me that ALL feeders are illegal to hunt over. he said they overlook coon feeders because they know you wont win many hunts in these parts without them.

in the south, no, feeders do not guarantee you will strike a coon everytime, but usually before the hunt is over you get on at the very least 1, and a good percentage of the time when you strike one off a feeder, its usually a real hot track you tree with coon seen. also, most feeders are setup with 100 yards of where you are turning loose, and alot within sight.

if it didnt make it easier folks wouldnt use them, especially for starting PUPS.

do feeders bother me in hunts, no, just dont like to see it in the world hunt. if these are truely the top 100 hounds in the world, they shouldnt need them

I saw our grown dogs go almost a mile one night to a feeder and tree a coon..Then we cut em from that area and they went another mile to tree another coon on another feeder lol....You remember that dont ya? Crap that was my good huntin spot..It aint always easier..If I had coons running a muck..I would not use any..They are more or less a way to keep the hounds in the country around here..You think it was bad then..You should try it now..Our coons have died out from something..Cant even tree one were we saw the bear that night!!!!!!! I dont care a thing about turning loose a cast without a feeder anywhere in north GA..

Well I can tell you, I have hunted in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, AND Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Missouri and Kentucky AND I HAVE HUNTED OFF FEEDERS IN ALL THESE STATES.

Its not just the southern states that use them. They are being used EVERYWHERE THERE ARE COONHUNTERS............

i would tend to think this would be the BEST possible conditions for an area with "thinner" coon. i hunt just off of flooded waters ALL early spring and have GREAT success!

If coon get flooded out they seem to always move to nearby "higher" ground. in an area like TN, i would imagine this would help centralize the population and provide better tracking?!?
