Hounds Shot

Folks,

Hoosier Tree Dog members and fellow hunters Brad Hall and his father had two hounds shot tonight. One was a pup off Slugger JR and the other was the Banjo dog that is co-owned with Mr. Dohoney. Banjo was shot in the head and was taken to an emergency vet in Danville and transferred to another vet in Indianapolis. The pup was shot near the top of his shoulders and should survive, luckily it grazed him. When I left Brad at the Vet in Indy the vet said he was going to leave the bullet in place and try to treat him for head trauma. Indiana Conservation Officers are conducting a very extensive investigation and the shooter has been identified. Please keep all involved in your prayers.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.

Everything that can be done is being done. That's about all I want to say right now about this ongoing investigation.

I will comment on a couple of things:

The Conservation Officer working this is one of the top officers in the state. He has nearly thirty years of experience, has been an administrator in the Division for several of those years and he supervised all aspects of the division...very competent.

Brad Hall is doing everything right.

The Hoosier Tree Dog Alliance is offering all assistance possible.

Third, these are the very reasons the Hoosier Tree Dog Alliance needs every Indiana Hunter as a member. The UKC estimates there are nearly 3000 hound / tree dog owners in the state. We currently have 250 members. Not even ten percent.

If you are on the fence about joining our ranks and combating ruthless acts such as this, ask yourself these questions:

Who has fought harder, developed an actual plan and trained conservation officers on hound shooting?

Will prosecutors take us serious when we can't even get ten percent of hunters to join our ranks?

If you are an Indiana dog owner/hunter, are you content sitting back and letting a few of us fight the fight for you?

Bottom line, we need you. We need to be able to walk into a prosecutors office and say, "We have three thousand members state wide..." We need to be able to tell legislators, law enforcement and news media outlets the same thing. We will swing a much bigger stick.

Join us today at:

www.hoosiertreedogs.org

There is a lot of talent out there that could really help our cause.

Guys, without saying to much for legal reasons, I will have to wait to share what happend in detail but I can say that I have never felt chills all over my body like I did last night when I saw that home owner with that gun and my dog laying over there not moving. My emotions and crying has drained me, I have been up all night, I just got home from Purdue University where they will keep Banjo as a study. Banjo was the most accurate, well mannered, hard treeing sweetest dog I have ever owned. I thank Mike Dohoney for allowing me to be in partners with this fine dog. He made a nite champion real quick, he was the leader of our dog of the year points at the Central Indiana Coon Hunters Club, my last hunt with him was last week at the quarter finals where he was under 8 coons and we scored on 7 of them (saw the first coon after the shine time) with Banjo having a split tree and shutting the dogs out on another, he got beat by 12.5 points. He was qualified for the PKC world hunt which I have done sent in my early entry. God knows all things, I pray that God's will be done, even if I don't agree!!! Thanks for all those who are supporting me at this time. Chris Griggs, thanks for coming up at 12midnite last nite and being with me till 3am, your a true dude!!! As Chris Powell stated, I am confident that justice will prevail and served!!
