NW MN Houndsmen Association Getting youth involved

The Northwest MN Houndsmen Association is putting on a Coonhound Demonstration at the youth day event in Crookston, MN Sept. 20th at 12:30pm... We are planning on between 500-700 people... UKC was nice enough to donate some information for the kids~ Thank you!! We plan on having a Master of Hounds and a Bench show judge there to talk about the events. We also plan on bringing a tanned Coonhide so the kids can feel the fur~ But most of all we are bringing some COONHOUNDS~ we are trying to get one from every breed~ so we can show the variety of hounds.

Other things happening at the youth show:
• Target Archery
• Trap Target Shoot
• NEW Sporting Clays Station
• Laser Shot Education Training
• BB gun or Gamo pellet gun targets for young tikes
• 22 Target Shooting at silhouettes & spinning targets
• Target Shooting with Ruger Charger Pistol
• FREE Coke products and meal will be served
• FREE Youth Sportsman Day T-Shirts for the first 175 people
• Door Prizes and giveaways throughout the afternoon
• FREE Drawings for Limited Edition NWTF Mountain Bike and Youth Shot Gun
• 4-H Shooting Sports talking about what 4-H has for youth shooting opportunities

BUT there is more~~
TIM BRADLEY of the Benelli Shooting Team will put
on a FREE Shooting Exhibition at 1:00 P.M.

Boys & Girls ages 6-18 are
ALL WELCOME!
Moms and Dads are
encouraged to stay, learn
and have fun with the kids.

The Youth Sportsmans event went wonderful!! Mike and I sparked a lot of interest in coon hunting. There were about 500 people there and we passed out a lot of flyers and UKC information bags. Those hounds really soaked up all the attention they got from the kids!! At least they got to see a Black and Tan, a Bluetick and a Walker!

It's great to hear events like this geared towards the Youth. Anytime you can get kids involved with hunting, outdoors, and especially hounds, it's a great thing in my book! Thanks to your club for putting forth the effort and time to do this.
