Puppy food choice? What is the best?
Looking for the best food available for my redbone puppy that I will be getting in November. "MONEY IS NOT A CONCERN"
I have been told by multiple people that the Solid Gold "Wolfcub Puppy" puppy food is the very best on the market.
Wanted some opinions . . .
Growing up, we used JOY dog food for all of our coon dogs.
But my new pup will be for bench show only.
**My thought is whats wrong with Pro Plan or Black Gold?**
Thanks Guys!
Joe
I like Black Gold or Pride.

I raise all of my pups on Purina Puppy Chow.. I've never tried the Purnia Pro Plan Puppy but I'd think it would be a great food.

Pro Plan is a good food. Better than Puppy Chow in my opinion. I have raised pups on Puppy Chow before and am currently raising one on Pro Plan.

We feed our pups Wellness Large Breed Puppy until they are one year old. Couldn't afford it if we had more than just a couple of hounds around, though.

Hard to beat Pup Chow, I feed all my pups on this food. I just had a litter of pups that turn 3 wks old. I took that pup chow and soak it in hot water, and grind it up like soap. And the pups go nuts on it.

Diamond is what I feed all my dogs. Puppy chow up to a year and then straight to High Energy.
I'm with Lonnie and Tully. I feed all my dogs Diamond, specifically the "naturals" line. I'm big on no corn, soy and fillers. Don't know about about you but I have never seen my dogs goin nuts over corn and soy. FYI, check the ingedients on your feed, if you find something call "animal digest".....well, I'll let you do the thinking on that one...Nothing against the Purina folks but I've noticed in in quite a bit of their feeds.
hate to leave such a long thread but this is just kind of my soap box. I hate seeing someone with great dogs feeding them crap food.
General rule: the first 3 ingredients in your dogs feed (again generally speaking) makes up about 75% of the feed content. that does not mean they are equally divided. Usually the percentage of the listed ingredient decreases given it's listing location. the first listed has a higher percentage of the total food comp than the following ingredient. to me it is VERY important to see that the first two incredients are meat. by-products are ok to me provided they are not listed first and they are not "by-product meal"
Hope this helps. Be glad to give you more info if you want it.
Happy Hunting!
