American Bulldog Breed Standard Revision Announcement.

The official UKC breed standard for the American Bulldog has been revised, effective October 1, 2009. After extensive research and input from American Bulldog owners and breeders, UKC felt that the current standard did not adequately describe the differences in acceptable types that exist within this breed.

UKC feels that the revised breed standard more fully explains the differences with type so that judges can more clearly understand the parameters of what is acceptable when judging the breed, especially when they are faced with more than one type in the ring together.

In addition several changes have been incorporated that are not type related, but that all involved felt were warranted.

Any Bulldog owner/breeders want to step up and volunteer information that they were included in this "extensive research"...I have asked some of the more prominent ones and no one knew anything about it (not too surprising after the way the weight pull changes were enacted.......).

UKC- want to tell us who was included in this "extensive research"?

UKC worked with the All American Bulldog Club a UKC Licensed club. You may contact Jamie Robinson (club officer) at: WEBBER@NET-LINK.NET

I have spoken to Jamie and while I agree that she is an excellent resource and knowledgable on the subject, I still don't think 1 club's opinions and input qualifies as "extensive research". UKC seems to have a very bad habit of changing rules based on a limited input from the customers involved. Not a good representation of customer service or a company that cares how their customers perceive them.
