GPS Tracking Systems

We all know about the Garmin Astro. But are there currently any other systems on the market or being developed? I've read about Tracker's system that is being developed, but it uses cell phone towers, which is a major turn off for me. I've also read (on here somewhere) that Marshall is developing a GPS system.

Garmin rules the roost when it comes to GPS technology. I think that instead of the telemtry companies trying to compete with the Garmin, they may be better suited use their resources to develop a better collar that could be used with the Garmin Astro. Garmin's collars are lacking...but they aren't experts in the telemtry field.

To sum it up....third party collars that could be used with the Garmin Astro is the way to go!

How close is the Marshall system to being released to the public?? I have been hearing about it for at least a year and a half.

Is anybody out there currently testing one or know anyone who is??

According to my Marshall contacts (High on the pecking order so to say), they are still shooting for an early 2010 release.

I seen one in the cooner magazine..Its a gps and beep beep tracker all in one and just one collar!!! I cant remember the name but I think its already out..

Rumor has it that Marshall is making a combination unit. If their tracking system is $1000+ just add the GPS capability to it......rather expensive I believe it will be...
