fighting dog question ?
you'v already finished your hunt. places are being awarded & you are standing there to get your picture takin. 2 dogs lock up in a fight on the leash. what happens to these dogs??
Nothing. The cards have been turned in so the dogs arent under the authority of a judge. But the handlers ought to be embarassed.
just a good lashing...

A FRIEND OF OURS HAD HIS DOG SCRATCHED FOR FIGHTING AT A BENCH SHOW.
BUT THAT IS STILL UNDER AUTHORITY OF THE JUDGE

Nothing...not under the authority of the judge, is my understanding.
JURISDICTION, All person on the grounds of a ukc event during the event hours are subject to the jurisdiction or the ukc and are subject to these ukc standards of conduct and disciplinary procedures.[ handing out trophies would still be under the jurisdiction of ukc., ] I think
page 36 of the 2009/2010 official ukc coonhound rulebook.

me & a freind was out huntin the other night & this come up about what would happen if this occured. i would say that the hunt is over but would these dogs be wrote up if the master of hounds was still there.
If there fighting on the ground then they'll fight anytime, anywhere. Shouldn't be allowed to hunt in my opinion.
It's beyond me why anyone would take a aggressive dog to a hunt anyway! I know it happens, but why? Who are they trying to impress?

That would be a joke if they got wrote up for this. Dogs are going to fight, this happens everyday. I don't want to own the aggressor, but I don't want a dog that can't take up for itself either.

Not sure, but, if they let us handlers tangle AFTER the hunt for the screwing we got DURING the hunt there would be a whole lot less screwing going on DURING the hunt!!!!

I think if the hunt is over then there is probably nothing you can do but untangle them and move on. We were at a bench show where a big male dog (about 75 pounds) that was entered into the bench show jumped on a female (About 45 pounds) that was just walking by. He was not provoked - just sailed on her for no reason. To me this dog clearly should have been excused from the show area and not considered for placement on the bench. He went on to win GRCH male that day and the dog he jumped on was not able to show because he hurt her leg and she could not stand on it. In no way should he have been given a chance to show much less win especially when he hurt the other dog so bad she could not compete. And at the very minimum somebody should have refunded her entry fee - IMO the male owner - but that didn't happen.
My point is, if this dog was not scratched then I am certain the 2 dogs in which you are referring would be in the clear since the competition they competed in was over with.

All you have to do is read the rules, they are very clear.
Dogs will be scratched for fighting anytime during the authority of the judge. Authority of the judge is defined as the time between recieveing the scorecard for the MOH and returning it to the MOH. Out side those time limits they are free to ballup to their hearts content.
All i can say is unbelievable. I would love to see someone try to scratch me or anyone else if this occured. They would get a big HA HA HA.
Glad that boy dog didn't jump on my female. I'm afraid me and his owner would of stepped round back and talked it over if you get my drift.
