My Hunt Tonight 08/15/09

Well I finally got off my lazy buns and pull Ole Zero out of his kennel and took him hunting tonight. First time he has been out of the kennel in two and a half months. Thought maybe I ought to do a little tuning him up if I am gonna hunt at Oaks this year. My friend Brian Weston brought up Chad Nay's Spiderman dog and him and Zero did well together. I will have to say it was pretty dang gone warm tonight. When we turned loose it was around 75 or a little better but got a tad bit cooler but not much. It is hard on a old fat man for sure but I really enjoyed my hunt with Brian and Spiderman. First drop we turned loose in a creek bottom that I hunt often and as soon as we unsnapped them I seen three coons sitting up around the creek in a cherry tree. Dogs ran right by it and then both struck. Wouldn't long Spiderman and Zero were treeing but Zero decided to go on and cross the creek and hit up a time or two but Spiderman was still treeing where they both had hit up. We walked to the tree and Brian thought at first it might be slick but I told him he has him and he then seen the coon. Well during this time I am looking at Zero across the creek and he was not moving or barking which I was wondering what this clown was up to. Well I started over there to him and and here he comes and falls treed which I think to keep me from busting his butt. (LOL) Well I looked the tree over but not too hard and we left there. Second drop and they messed around for a tad bit longer this time before striking a track and moving it on down this little creek and then coming treed. Me & Brian started to them and he said they were 600 or so yards from us by his New Garmin he just got and man do I ever like that unit. It is the real deal. Well we walked through some beautiful timber to get to the dogs and both were treeing but not real hard due to the heat. Me and Brian looked it over and Brian finally found the coon and that made a total of six we had looked at tonight. 4 in the cherry tree and two were in trees the dogs were on. Great night. Here is a pic I snapped camera didn't want to act right so it is not all that good, but I think Brian had a good time as I did. Getting ready to fire it up for sure. This is my stress relief and God knows we all need that. LOL!!!!!

I wouldn't say all that Larry. We just hit it at the right time I guess. Both dogs did real well. Liked the Spiderman dog he is a nice hound.

Thanks Adam, that English hound was a real nice hound to say the least. Ole Zero had to work out the cobb webs but he finally got it going. Them two hunted together real well and I like that. I really enjoyed going the other night.
