LED heads and lights??
For those of you that have been around some of the led heads and led lights wich is the best?
Pro lite led 5100 head?
Smart light?
Predator light?
Blazor led?
K light led head?
Tims led head?
Pros and cons of em!
Name em if i missed em!
Thanx!
Save your money on the Nite Lite LED head
Too many shadows and does not make a bright light. Have not been to the timber with the Smart, but saw one the other night. It is pretty bright and is white. They also make a small handheld spot light that is rechargable and fairly bright.

I got one of the Blazer Led Pro heads but I use a Cajun 21v batter pack with it. Very bright and clear light. Light does not glare off leaves and when compared to a normal 5100 head the 5100 looks yellow. 5100 head is really no comparison to them in terms of light output. I couldnt hunt with a 5100 anymore. I have yet to run my battery down with it and sometimes I have went 4 or 5 nights of hard hunting without running it down, probably 30 hours of burning. Coons seem to look at it a little better as well. Also because of the clear light the coons that dont look can be seen easier in the trees than with a 5100 head and its yellow light.

What are the cons of the blazer?
I dont really know of a con to the Blazer other than the price. One thing that could be better is the switch. You have to turn the battery pack on and then turn the head on. I got used to it pretty quick but it would be better if you only had to turn the battery pack on. It is also bit akward and odd shaped if you are someone who likes to carry the head in your hands instead of on a cap. I always carried my 5100 in my hand but had to get used to wearing the cap.

I have and use the Blazer that some call the Pro head. It is a great light with a lot of burn time.
I have not been able to compare it side by side with some of the other lights mentioned yet, but will soon.
Bruce carries several of the ones listed and will be a dealer for the Predator light also when they are available to the public.

I love my Predator light. Very bright. Good focus. Very good in fog.. Long burn time. Idiot-proof charger.. Very light. Compares favorably to any traditional light I have hunted against. I have banged it around plenty in the woods without ill effect.
The only other LED I have compared it with is a Petzel hiker's light I use for backup to get out of the woods in an emergency. That is useless for spotlighting a coon.

I'll second what Virgil said about the Blazer head. I use mine with a 21 Bandit battery belt and like it a lot, lots of walking light for an old guy to see where he's going and no trouble seeing in the tree. I've seen the Predator in person and barring any unforseen promblems think it will be comparable to what the Garmin is to the other trackers. I'm planning on getting one for the reason that the less I have to carry these days the longer I'll last. The spot on the Predator is much tighter than mine so if you like that it'll work for you. I also have a Tim's 8+ led that my grandaughter uses when she goes that is simply on or off that is a very nice little light with a tight spot and surprising bright for it's size.

I HAVE ONE OF TIMS NEW LIGHTS AND THE ONLY THING I HATE ABOUT IT IS, YOU CANNOT TURN IT DOWN ENOUGH TO KEEP THE BUGS AWAY. ON ITS LOWEST SETTING IT IS JUST A FRACTION DIMMER THEN FULL BRIGHT AND ATTRACTS LOTS OF BUGS SO I FIND MYSELF STUMBLING IN THE DARK MOST OF THE TIME UNTIL I GET TO THE TREE. OTHER THEN THAT, IT HOLDS A GOOD CHARGE.

Smart Light!!
I've hunted for years with other lights both box and belt and you can't beat the smart light. The battery pack on the back of the helmet serves as a counter balance so it sits comfortably on your head, plus you you don't have the light cord to get tangled up in.

After having my smart light since April I can tell you that it is a lot more comfortable than my old 21V belt light.
PROS
My helmet doesnt fall off my head when bending over because the head piece and battery counter balance each other.
No cord running down to get caught on everything, unplugging the light or jerking the helmet off your head snapping your neck back.
No more blowing bulbs
No more scratching my truck door panel with a battery pack
Tightest spot that I ever seen
Water and exposition proof head
Throw it on and go
$ 150.00 for battery, charger, head, helmet and a 30 day money back (satisfactory) guarantee and a full one year warranty
I tested the continuous burn time on my smart light: 154hrs on low and 13.5hrs on high.
I dont know the weight of the Smart Light, but I bet it doesnt weigh much more (if any) then a 5100 head with that long cord mounted on a helmet does.
I sold everything else and only use the smart light!
Cons
Its mounted on the helmet or soft cap
You cant adjust the head to flood

K-Light
I used a K-Light for over 12 years. Judy and Mike are good people that have always treated me right and I would highly recommend them.
I stopped using a K-LIGHT for the reasons listed above.
............................................................................................
Predator
I want to try the new predator light, but with it costing nearly $300.00 dollars, Im going to wait until I see one in action, see what others have to say about it, and etc.
Good Luck with whatever you decide,
KG
Had my hands on the new predator a few weeks ago at a hunt and i was impressed. light, bright and i liked the charging setup, sets in a cradle kinda like a cordless phone. The price seems kinda out of line for whats there, before i fork over 300 bucks for a light i will have to see them stand the test of time and i suspect like anything else electronic a year from now when the novelty of a new toy wears off the price will drop.
Smart Light is the way to go.
SMART LIGHT
You have probably already read what I had to say about these lights on the SMART LIGHT post. Just in case you haven't I will try to keep this short. I have been using lights for coonhunting for over 44 years. I was skeptical about these lights at 1st. My curiousaty got the best of me. I bought one and put it through all the tests. I was so impressed that I asked for a dealership. Ive been selling them now and just made another order yesterday. When I get this order it will make 33 lights sence the middle of july. For $150.00 Which is $120.00 less than any comparable light. I don't know how you can beat it. Larry
