Minnesota hunters
Do we have a state association web page?
I did a search and didn't find anything of real value for coon hunting.
Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks
Andy
I setup a webpage for the state association almost 2 years ago. It has basically died due to lack of content, lack of interest, and lack of info being submitted. It hasn't been updated in some time.
I've offered control of the site to a couple of people but no luck.
I'd even be willing to redesign it and spruce it up if I thought it would be worth the effort. I really thought the officers, clubs and membership would use it as a tool, especially since MN hunters seem to play on the internet so much. LOL!

Looks like it would be a good source of information if people were submitting it....
Thanks for letting me know.
Andy
Brogy that seems like a very nice website for the MN cooners to check out to bad someone won't keep it updated.

marc what does it take to keep it updated , let me know if i can help in anyway, you know how much i like to play on here .... thanks jim
Updating it is easy, if someone is submitting info.
I'm not going to dig through the Bloodlines each month to find event dates, or scroll the site each weekend to find event results, if a club would like to share that info the site would be a great avenue for that.
I maintain a couple other sites using freewebs and both are much nicer... one is my personal kennel site and the other is the Heartland Houndsmen Federation site... both are better because I'm more interested and I can easily find content to add.
If someone is real serious about wanting to run the website, feel free to contact me. Preferably someone somewhat handy on the computer.
Hi.. Ive sent you information for the NW MN Houndsmens assoc... and none of it got put on it.. I even sent you the dates for our hunts, shows and water races.. and it was not updated.. I will send you the information.. but id like to see it get up dated.. Thanks a bunch>> Susie

You are correct Suzie, you have been the only individual / club to send me anything. I think I responded to you as well.
I appreciate your input, I'll admit it was a little too late on my end.
I had already lost interest at that point. I think Suzie would be another good candidate to help edit the site. We might need someone from both the north & south, to keep updates and reports going.
I'm glad there is a sudden interest, I was planning to shut down the site following the State Hunt unless something was going to change. Messing with the site isn't bad in the winter when there is nothing else to do, but I've been awfully busy this summer with other things. I made an honest effort, but I'd really like someone else to take it over. The ground work is there and it is an easy program to play with.
A couple others sites I've done...
Chosen Valley Sporting Dog Club (new Chatfield MN club)
www.cvsdc.webs.com
Heartland Houndsmen Federation
www.heartlandhoundsmenfederation.com
My personal kennel site,
www.wildskykennels.webs.com
Did you ever discuss my idea of giving each club a password to work on their own section of the site.. that way.. if you have an active club member that likes to update things... it would be done.. that lets you off the hook~~ Id hate to have your job of begging people for the information~~

I am not a computer wiz, but why doesn't the State site come up when I do a search by "Minnesota State Coonhunters Association" on yahoo or google?
It would be nice to have each active club and a contact person for that club listed on the web page. I believe each club submits this along with the check...? The reason I bring this up is a gentleman called me the other night looking to get into coonhunting and he couldn't find any info on MN club's. I think he found the Trail hound website, but that isn't driven towards coonhounds nor is it in this area. He found out about us thru the local fur buyer.
Brogy - I can send you Crane Creek (Owatonna) membership list and contact if you want to add it?
Thanks
Andy
Suzie, I haven't mentioned your idea... Not sure who I'd mention it to? I've often thought the State Assoc should split into zones with directors like the Trapping Assoc does. It seems clubs can't get directors to the meetings as is. I have lots of ideas and opinions but when I share them some folks get they're undies in a bunch! lOL!
Andy, I think the reason MSCHA doesn't come up in a search engine is the way I have the site set up. I don't know all the technical lingo either but I used a free service for the site... If I chose the use a basic pay plan I could get rid of the freewebs address, the pop up advertisements, and be registered with a search engine. I chose not to do that unless the site was being utilized more often. The Heartland site is the same program, but has its own domain name, no advertisement and will appear on a search for a very reasonable annual fee I pay out of my own pocket.
I'm happy with the sudden interest and compliments on the site, but frankly it is all a little late to get me into putting forward anymore effort. Someone else should take it over but I'll bet whoever does, will repeat the same cycle... put a bunch of effort into it, lose interest, get frustrated with the lack of content, and stop updating it. Just like I did, and just like the site that was available prior to the current one.
