Harrier ????

just wondering what a harrier is in the sent hound group . looks like a begal and walker cross doesent look big as a coonhound just courious about what it is.

It was bred out of the foxhound like treeing walkers, but not for treeing quarry. It's more for rabbits and foxes from my understanding. Sort of an inbetween of a Foxhound and Beagle. This is all from what I read, not from experience. I've never seen one in person. Just researched em when looking for my first dog.

they were bred to be an in between hound somewheres in between the beagle and foxhound mostly for rabits but found a niche for runing deer. shorter legged so they didnt move as fast as a foxhound but yet had stamina for a longer chase.

I owned some Harriers a few years ago, I don't think there's a noticeable difference between them and a beagle other than their size. They're good rabbit and armadillo dogs but don't seem to care for coon.
