Well I have yet to see one in a pine or a sycamore. Last night at a hunt I was in a three dog cast and the other handlers said "here he is here he is" hes balled up in the top. I never seen him and I guarantee they didnt see anything either but they plused it anyway. But, I still won my cast cause they both treed a possum on the next drop.
I think that was karma biting em in the A**.

Posted by Loren Simpson on 06-14-2009 08:15 PM:

the one i saw, the sycamore is the only place he coud go. i just heard my female fall treed deep and the sycamore she was on had a calf feeder tied to it. so id say she just put him up passin by.

in the book, where the red fern grows, that boys' dogs treed one in the biggest sycomore tree in the woods. and then that boy chopped the tree down. i'd left it even if i had a chainsaw.

quite a few times. Expecially when hunting little creeks around here that have few trees. Most seem like summer time though

There is sycamores everywhere around here and I have never treed in one. The creeks and rivers are lined with them and the riverbottoms are full of em. Seems like they always go up a water birch around the rivers here and those things are thick as a pine tree in the summer.

Yep, I didn't have pics but I have seen a few in em. They didn't always climb the sycamore either, sometimes they crossed out from one into it. One old den I remember had a white oak leaning into it, depended on which side of the creek the coon was on as to which one he climbed and the dogs treed on.
