It boils down to money ... buy the best you can afford to feed .

ProPlan is the best of the top tier feeds .

Canidae is right under it in price and quality.

Diamond Naturals is probably the best of the mid range feeds.

If you need some cheaper , I guess feed the dogs to each other until you can afford good feed.

Its hard to beat Pro-Plan if you can afford it...

Purnia O.N.E. is also a good food.

Black Gold is the best I have fed, I feed Sportmix now and it is close but Black Gold is just a tad better in my opinion.

I have never fed Purina Pro Plan, cant afford it, although I have been thinking about putting a couple of my dogs on a higher level feed like Pro Plan or Diamond Naturals.

I like Purina One as well, I bought a few bags of it last year when I was looking at some different feeds.

I feed the PRIDE in the orange bag. I used to feed the black bag but the orange seems to give them a little more energy.

I've been thinking about it, the one thing holding me up right now is getting it local. I have found a feed store that carries it but its over an hour away.

Tractors Supply is putting in a new store about twenty minutes away, I hope they carry it. Does TSC usually carry Pro Plan???

I haven't found anything that compares to purina. My dogs look good and have good stools. I feed purina one and puppy chow. I am trying a bag of pro-plan puppy chow and so far I am very happy with it. My kennel partner feeds purina dog chow and that isn't a bad dog food for the price. I used to drive for these feeds but now I have found them at tractor supply.

Pro-Plan is hands down the best. I have to feed Black Gold and Sportmix for price reasons. Maybe one day i can win the purina race and get it for free for rest of the dogs life. that would be real nice.

I use the Pro-Plan Chicken and Rice on all my hounds. So far I haven't found a feed I like better, although when money is tight I'll get them Purina ONE Chicken and Rice. They like a little variety every now and then anyway I don't really like to give my money to Petsmart, but they and Tractor Supply are the only places I've found Pro-Plan. Unfortunately Petsmart usually has Pro-Plan for about $5-10 cheaper than TSC around here, so that's where I've been getting it.

I've considered using the Performance formula now that I have a few dogs that are being hunted regularly, and the rest are going to start being conditioned hard for the "big" shows this fall. Is there a significant difference in it and the other formulas? How much work would you say a dog would have to be doing to justify the change, because I've noticed the Performance is even more expensive than some of the other Pro-Plan formulas...
