Is this phoney or for real?

I posted an ad on a local website looking for a female collie puppy. Almost immediately I got a response. I am going to copy and paste all the e-mails I got from them, something doesn't add up to me. They haven't given me there names or any pictures of said puppy like I asked for. They say the only thing I need to pay for is the shipping crate which the airline will call and book for me. Sounds to good to be true....

First e-mail from these people:

my family and I are out on a vacation to spring island Cameroon some
few weeks back, but the climate here is not favorable for our baby
Tina, so our vet office advice we send her back to the states and the
only way to do this is look her a new home, we really regret doing
this but that is all we have to do to save her life, all we want is
her happiness and welfare, our two year old daughter Jenifer would
have love to grow up to see Tina but we just regret all what is
happening to us, Tina is 11 weeks old, and very healthy vet check and
you have nothing to worry about, all papers are under preparations and
all her toys too are here, all shots are up to date, we will really want some one who will love her
so much,so that when we come back to the state in some few months
from now, we could always visit you to check on how Tina is doing.

We want you to know that we are not selling her, she is not for sell, my wife and i are offering to pay for her flight ticket so a flight could be booked for her and have her delivered to you.

So if you can stand the chance of taking her home, you will only need to buy her a new travel crate because the one she came in with is bad it will cost just $110 OR $100 DEPENDING THE QUALITY for a new crate ,this money for crate will be paid directly to the airport provide the travel crate to,as soon as you want to have her, my wife and i would take her to the air port and book her flight.the air port would then contact you on how the travel crate would be payed to them so tina can be flight..

we would like to ask you some few questions if you don't mind.

1) Are you a pet lover?
2) Do you have kids?
3) How soon? Do you need her?
4) Do your family love pets
5) my wife will like to know if you are in the states.
6) And are you taking her for breading purposes?
7) Have you experience in homing pets?

We will like to get all this answers to determine your faith, to
take Tina. And will appreciate if you get back.

YES ALL I HAVE TO DO IS TAKE THE PUPPY TO THE AIR PORT PET DELIVERY DEPARTMENT, I WOULD BOOK THE FLIGHT FOR THE PUPPY AND WOULD ASK THE AIR PORT TO CONTACT YOU ON HOW YOU WOULD BE DOING THE PAYMENTS FOR THE TRAVEL CRATE TO THEM, THIS PAYMENTS WOULD BE CONFIRM AND TINA WOULD BE FLIGHT.
SHE WOULD BE DELIVERED AT YOUR DOOR STEERS BY THE PET DELIVERY AGENT FROM THE AIR PORT. THE PUPPY WOULD BE DELIVERED AT YOUR DOOR STEERS, WOULD BE HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THAT ALL WE NEED IS A GOOD HOME FOR OUR BABY, I AM DELIGHTED WITH YOUR MAIL AND THE WAY YOU ANSWER THE QUESTIONS, I HAVE ALSO SEEN YOUR PICTURES YOU ATTACHED THEY ARE ADORABLE.
LET ME KNOW HOW SOON YOU WANT ME TO CALL THE AIR PORT AND ARRANGE FLIGHT RESERVATIONS FOR HER??

Third e-mail from them, after I sent them pictures of our pets and kids:

hi, i already called the air port and they confirm they are available flights today, if we can flight her this morning, she would get to you by evening, all arrangements would be made by the air lines, air France air lines would be the once to handle her flight, it would take just 7 hours for the flight to arrive US. she would be delivered right at your home by the pet delivery agent from the air port.
i can just call now, and book the flight on phone, also with the flight reservations.
after i book the flight, the air port would now contact you this morning with flight details of the puppy,. they would also get to you on how you would be doing the payments to them for the puppy's travel crate..o.k... so there is a next flight this morning and we could flight her on the flight.
o.k about our family pictures, i would have time and send it to you, but here below are tina's pics.
as soon as you give me your full address which tina you be delivered to, i would call now and take her to the air port and book the flight, then they would contact you on how payments for the travel crate would be made.


Still no name nor photo. I can't understand how it would be a scam if I am paying the airline for the crate. And where the heck isspring island Cameroon ? I gave them me phone number 2 times and haven't got a call from them. I need info. on this fast.

The airlines will not fly a dog right now because of the heat. There's only 2-3 monthes out of the year they will do this I'm pretty sure. I went thru this about 2 years ago trying to get a dog flew down to Florida. I could be wrong but this was my experience!! You should just go down and meet them at the gate at the airport. Something tells me you might be waiting awhile!! LOL

Old saying: If it sounds to good to be true...It usually is.

No names, no pictures, no background info. and the fact that they are in Africa, biggest scam place in the world? I don't think so.

They did send me a picture of a Blue Merle Collie, which they could have found anywhere on the net. They also sent me a picture of 'them' supposedly. I just don't understand where the scam would be in this, since I'm not paying them, but paying the airline.

Knowing how dog are sent from France it sounds all in order.. Except that you Will pay for the Shipping Crate at the Airport on Delivery .. Not over the Phone !! with your Credit Card !! This would be the Only part of a Scammmmmmm.. France Requires a Agent for Shipping Unless it is hand Carried by the New Owner..

Good Scam thou !! Catch is They would already be Paying a Great deal of Money for a Agent and Flight $2,500 so what would be the Big deal about the Cost of the Crate ?????

They need to get alittle Smarter .... lol

It's a scam..You'll never see the dog

Heard of someone else who went through this who works with a rescue group. They paid the $100 for the crate..then another problem popped up..cost another $150....then another problem popped up and cost another $150....

Basically they will nickel an dime you and play on your heart strings for as long as you let them.

Some people will go to great measures to get their pet into a good home. Consider offering them more, but only upon arrival of a healthy dog. One thing that seems fishy to me is that getting a dog through customs could be very hard and expensive. If it is the kind of dog you want - it might be worth trying - just for curiousities sake!

It's not. The puppy is 11 wks. old. A white factored blue merle with pricked ears, that is a fault, Collies are to have tulip ears. Another thing is that they wanted to do this so fast, got a response from them yesterday after the ad was posted yesterday morning, they found a flight for said puppy for today and the kicker....Harrisburg airport told me they DO NOT ship live animals or receive live animals from June 1-October 1.

That is one huge scam.

There are several major scams originating out of African nations. Most are credit card, internet or phone scams. Many of them start as something very simple. Some of the phone calls placed end up costing thousands of dollars. If you want a deal......look the person in the eye when you do it. 27 years in law enforcement give me a dim view on anything done over the internet or phone.

I expect that it is a scam. Remember that transporting a dog between countries can really be hard and you cannot bring them in from many countries period.
