leaving tree
Is anyone having problems or had problems this time of year with a dog leaving the tree and getting treed right around the same area???
I have a super nice stay put (young) dog that is usually consistent and was all fall and winter but now that the kitten seem to be moving she is checking her self quite often. Not really sure what the hell she's doing besides giving me a headache. She will tree on a coon and leave that tree to go 3 trees down and tree on another coon. I'm told that its just so much scent on the ground but not sure whats going on.
This is in the licensed hunts of course since it is quiet season

Your not alone. I have started a good many of pups this time of year. I know there is a differance of opinions and everyone has their own way of doing things. I have had the best luck of tieing them up and letting them tree and pettin them up for a good 10-15 mins at the tree in addtion to what it takes to walk to the tree, then shooting it out. bout 3 trees of this in a row they get the idea. After I shoot it out I will either go somewhere else or walk a lil bit farther than normal to recutso thet arent wastin there time trying to tree all the kittens in that one area.
