Please pray for us.....

I know this doesn't sound like a big deal, but it is to us. Frank and I have been in First Responders class since the beginning of March. We have learned a lot and REALLY want to pass this course. Tonight is our state practical test and I need all the prayer I can get.

I get very nervous when I'm being watched and especially timed. I have CPR down pat, I can do a medical patient fine, but where I screw up is my trama patient, I freeze up and my brain wouldn't function. Please pray that I don't freeze up and can remain calm for the test. Thats the thing they tell me most in practice labs, calm down, don't stress. Well I don't know how to calm down and not stress. So please everyone, pray for me to have strength and remember what I've been taught and to function normal tonight. Above all for me to remain calm.

Thank you!

Thank you Mike. I know you know what I am going through then. I know what to do, it's just I forget the order in which to do everything on a trama. We have 20 minutes to start care, render care, package and give a radio report. I'm good at C-spine immoblization and I can get my vitals faster. Frank is good at blood sweep and DCAP-BTLS. He can get the O2 on faster and the collar. From there it is a join effort.

Thoughts and Prayers!

I have Anxiety disorder(THANK genetics helped along by my brain injury )... SO... as much as I don't know the TESTS you will have to do... I used to show horses and just about lose it every time... SO... I send STRONG relaxing prayers your way. We will send prayers that you BOTh do very well. Do your best to think positive going into it.... I'm sure you are very competent at the job.... I sympathize completely with hating to be watched etc... the meds I'm on since brain injury help SOME... but I still FEEL the same nervousness... just don't feel so apt to run away....

Take a deep breath and believe in yourself!
We'll be with you in prayer, Heather and Bob

I will let you know how it goes for sure. I've been praying all day long for the Lord to be with us tonight. Right now I'm calm, just reread my trama and medical patient. Oakridge, lol, you sound like our instructors. ABC's, AVPU, etc. Thank you all for your support. I can feel it. I know this is the right thing for us and we know what to do, it's just doing it in under 20 minutes might be the problem.

Well everyone, I thank you for your prayers, I know they helped us because I wasn't nervous at all. Frank and I both aced our medical and CPR. Unforunately our whole class flunked trama. The instructor pulled us aside and told us we were the only one's with a near perfect trama, we over shot our time by a minute and a half. But since the whole class flunked, we have to retake it too. Some for protocol that if more then half the class flunks we have to go for 6 hrs. of intense training and retake the portion we did not pass. Our instructor told us that had it been him, he would have left us slide on the 1 1/2 minutes, but since the rest flunked, he couldn't do it.

So I guess we have to do our state written on Tuesday and then go back for 6 more hrs. and then retest. Thank you for all your support, I felt it, GOD was with me last night, I preformed my duties and did everything right, it's just the clock got us.

I will keep you posted!

Good And Bad...

That was good news on one hand and not so good on the other. The fact the WHOLE class failed that portion makes it interesting....
Bet you'll get that time shaved off the next time and it sounds like you did REALLY well! You will probably be much more comfortable the next time too.
Glad you felt the presence of God with you... sure can help can't it?

WIll be sending more thoughts and prayers your way!
CONGRATS on the parts you ACED!

Heather and Bob

Thanks Heather. Yes it is a bitter sweet victory. But we will use our 6 more hrs. very wisely and this time, we will pass. We have about 8 kids in our class that doesn't give a rats a$$ about passing or failing and they are the ones that caused this entire failure. My idea is, if you don't WANT to do this, then don't waste our time, our instructors time and your own time, leave, so the rest of us can do what we truly want to do.
