Hi-Standard - Red Bag

Has anybody fed this? It is their puppy blend, 32/18 I think. We can get it easily and it's cheaper than what we are feeding. Would just like some in-put, I've always heard good things about Hi-Standard. We have some pups/younger dogs and were looking for a good, lower priced dog food - something that isn't $40-$45.....Thanks!

danielle ive been feeding the purple bag and my dogs look great. you can get it in midvale for 19 bucks for 50 lbs. it last alot longer cause you dont need to feed as much.

I think it's the best puppy food made bar none.

Thanks for the input. We fed the Orange bag (24/20) along with Diamond Chicken & Rice this winter and it worked out really good. The dogs always looked & hunted great and they ate it good. We are probably going to start feeding the Purple bag all the time and feed the Red bag to the pups....

Been feeding Hi-Standard for years, cant beat it.

Unfortunately "GOOD" and "LOWER PRICED" usually don't go hand in hand.

danielle everyone that i know that uses the purple bag feed it to their pups too. its real small bits and the pups grow to be big and healthy on it.

I agree. But I can't change that fact....I've been feeding Diamond Naturals for four years now. It recently went up to $27.99 for a 40# bag. With the way things are in the economy I'm starting to look for something that might not be as high a quality but works. I just can't afford that right now....

Feed what you can afford Danielle. If there is one thing I am never going to go into debt over it is stinking dog food. Before the internet and message boards people fed what they had local and reasonable and never thought twice about it.

To be honest the amount that dog food is discussed on this and any other board is downright comical. As long as the dogs are healthy and in good shape how in the world can you tell if fifty dollar a bag feed is any better than twenty dollar a bag food. I know everyone will say I am nuts and that they can tell by performance and when you are pounding a dog that might be right. For an everday hunter like me I doubt you would ever notice a difference.

Use the money you save on feed for gas to drive hunting and you will have better dogs.

hi standard

started feeding my blueticks hi standard purple bag around
december. they were eating purina puppy chow. our male
was eight months & female was three months.our dogs LOVE
this food. they're breath smells like bacon after they've finished eating & want to love & jump on us.

they eat about half as much food now. females coat went
from dull black to shiny black. both dogs have very defined muscle tone & beatifully shiny coats.

we get the food at moore's huntin' suppy in piketon, oh
for $23.95, 50lb bag. is $22.95 at another feed store near
chiilicothe, oh.

the higher price food has really paid off, they honestly eat half the food. we have to drive 45min to get this food in piketon,
is well worth the drive!!! just wish more feed stores would
carry this product.

I have tried almost everything around here in Mo. and cant find anything with this quality for the price--Hi-Standard for me and my hounds.
