Couple Questions

First question is what is the penalty for treeing your dog before you have him struck in.

Second question. When my dog hits a track he likes his first couple barks are kind of a squeak, sqawk, whine all kind of mixed together. Can I strike him in on that even though its not a full bark. Buddy of mine said I should ask about it.

1st-No penalty unless your dog has barked more than 3 times without being struck. In that case you are minused next available strike position.

2nd- Yes.

If your dog has barked a total of 6 times and your judge knows the rules worth a crap then you are scratched!

Nope! That rule is not retroactive. You must be minised and then have 4 more barks before you can scratch. You can't just wait, count 6 barks and say "you are scratched".

Posted by Clay Lautzenhiser on 04-17-2009 07:05 PM:

Well Jim you better ask Allen cause we have discussed it. It goes like this: you say tree my dog, I say you dog isnt struck, you are minused, you dog barks three more times and I say you are scratched! DONE DEAL! READ THE RULE!

clay, is that how you get rid of the comp. in the club hunts, but you can't get by with it at the bigger hunts so you just go home?

Posted by on 04-17-2009 07:20 PM:

Clay, i agree with your second post. Your first post led me to believe you were saying that if the dog bark 6 times, your are scratched. That isn't the way it works. If you are minused once, the second time you are scratched. That is the rule.

Posted by Clay Lautzenhiser on 04-17-2009 07:20 PM:

Sosh, No that is called following the rules. Anytime you want to put your money where your mouth is load up and lets do it. I do my share of winning in others peoples back yard, not my own. Ask anyone who is EVER drawn me, I am as fair and honest as a man can get. However I follow the rules! Don't come on here and talk **** to me, load up and lets go!
By the way Sosh look at the Winter Classic results. Look at the 07 World Finals Top 100... I think I have faired quite well in the "bigger" hunts in the last several years. Anytime you want to compare resumes let me know! PAL!

your words from a different thread,"That is one of the reasons I didn't bother to stick around for the other two nights". i normally don't get on here and talk *****, i was just following your lead. and i can probably come up with a dog or two.

Posted by Clay Lautzenhiser on 04-17-2009 07:33 PM:

That was from the blue hunt. If you think I hunt "local" hunts you obviously have lived under a rock for the last several years. Don't talk crap! Load up and come on down. I have spend 9 out of the last 12 months on the road hunting all over the country. I am not afraid to show my dog anywhere. We have won in 6 different states without the luxury of one "set up" cast. So now it is time for all the crap talkers to come to my house and show me! QUIT TALKING AND LETS GO HUNTING!

i thought it was a minus offense if you tried to tree before you strike.

If I tree my dog on his first bark and strike him on his third, do I draw minus? I have struck on the first and treed on the second several times. Does it say in the rules a dog must be struck before it can be treed? As long as it's treed and struck in the first three barks?

Did you do this in the final cast at Ed's? If not it was pretty quick!!

Posted by blueticker on 04-17-2009 09:03 PM:

First and fourth or fifth. Didn't want a handler error.

There definitely wasn't any of that. Did Marcus tell you how the cast went Wednesday night. I drew out with Jeff hunting Mose and you would never believe what those two dogs did together.

Posted by on 04-17-2009 09:12 PM:

There is no penalty for treeing your dog before it is struck, the judge just refuses your call. If you get your dog struck in before the 4th bark, no foul. If you don't get your dog struck in by the 4th bark, you would be minused your strike points. This is how Allen explained it to me.

Posted by blueticker on 04-17-2009 09:48 PM:

Thanks Jim

If they didn't get treed in the first or second section they treed in the third.

in any of the registries, does the judge first have to ask for a call before he can minus you?

PKC's rule is different from UKC. In PKC the rule requires the judge to ask for a call after 3 barks. If the handler doesn't then strike the dog, he is minused. AKC has the same rule.

Why in the world would you tree your dog before you strike your dog? If this red dog opens his mouth hes got coon in his nose and when he locates he has found were he went, o I'm sorry he does whimper and wine if I'm slow on the take off. Hes only barked maybe and i mean maybe five times at home,
