coon dogs on bear
was wondering who all ran their dogs on coon and bear. living in south michigan, making the trip up to are property is like 5 hrs to one and 14 to the other. i have blue ticks and was thinking of getting some to do both. have heard of people doing it and have heard that you dont wanna do that. any more info would be greatly apprceiated. thanks!!
Been doing it for 35 years. No complaints here.

question for ya jackbob... do u ever have a problem with them striking and running and then when u get in there they have a coon? thats the only thing i have heard for not doing it.
We've walked to a few coon trees , but the good ones seem to know the difference by the way they're handled.
Coonhunting , we free cast. Bear hunting , we put them on a track.
The ones that tend to drop off on coon don't really want to run a bear anyways.
The trick is to be honest with yourself. If you got a dog that is dropping off and treeing coon , stop taking it. Get him/her out of the pack.
Same way with a trash runner. If they keep running trash when you put them down , quit putting them down until you've got them broke.
Where abouts you live M&S ?

i live in lansing. i hunt blue dogs. where abouts u from? maybe a coon hunt one nite after season opens back up. alot of the guys i hunt with are out of state so i mainly hunt around here by myself.
I'm about an hour north of Lansing. Little town called Crystal.
Was born and raised in Lansing though.

Coonhunting is good around here.
We bear hunt south of Munising.
