I am sold on the Marshall. This thing puts out a signal that is unmatched.

For beep-beep, there is no other brand to think about other than Marshall Powermax collars. As a side note, Marshall is also currently working on a GPS system. After talking with some of the higher ups, they feel it will be available within the next year.

Marshall is supposed to be putting together a tracking system that is a GPS as well when it looses signal it will switch over to the beep-beep. That would real nice.

ive used every collar and almost every reciever on the market,i havent had the chance to use the new garmin stuff but whith my deer hounds i wouldnt use anything except johson "d" size collars and the quick track 6000 box.ALTHOUGH i like any box that can track any frequency cause they can be dailed in finer than a pre-set A.B.C ect selection.cold and hot weather will cause a collar freq. to drift up or down a little,so will snow or heavy rain for a back up i have and use the new yaesu scanner box.i have had an icom and an alinco and liked them all,i just trade up and went with a brand new and smaller yeasu.
as for collars i think its personal prefrence.some people love wildlife changeble batteries collar.i dont, they beep too slow for me.i like the fast beep of johnson collars, they are sealed units but i have had them for a long time and had no problems with em.they are live for almost seven weeks a year for sometimes 24 + hours at a time.personaly i dont think it would matter what collar or box i used im fortunate enough to have probably the best antenna ive ever seen.its localy made by some comunications guy around here and is 4 element narrow band width unit that is out of this world acurate and picks up soooooooooo far it aint funny.after i got it i had to re-learn how to track with it.now days though i see alot of guys going with equipment they can just afford instead of going by quality.

You've never used a Marshall Powermax collar. That I can tell, by you saying the Johnson collars are the real deal. Once you try a Powermax, you'll sell your Johnsons quick. Also, the Marshall 4000 is the real deal. After you try that combination, tell us how you feel about what you're currently using. Not causing trouble, just informing you what's out there.

I've used Johnson 16,000 hr , rats 8,000, and quick track x-long range and none of them even compare to the range and type of signal of the Marshall Powermax from wht I have seen in my hunting terrain. I like the Garmin but for range with out the extra ant. it looses signal at less than a half a mile and from what I have seen you loose the signal at alittle over a mile in hilly terrain with the hand held long range ant. I really do like the Garmin but I reccommend the Marshall for the beep beep systems.

Marshall hands down.Ive used most collars out there or compared the marshalls to ones I didnt own. Also customer service is first rate with Marshall.

Posted by Mike Williamson on 04-14-2009 06:00 PM:

To get more out of your Garmin you can go to their site and plug in your system to your CPU and download the new software that they have come out with. It soesn't cost anything and takes about 10 minutes to go through the process as well when doing this you can put that new software to your collars as well with your handheld. I live in fairly flat country and regurarly would loose signal at about 1.2 miles to 2.1 miles. I can now get up to three.

Don't buy Quicktrack!!!

I bought four Quicktrack collars 3 years ago 2 of the collars were
dead within 2 years and 2 are still going. In my opinion they have no longevity. I have a 16,000 hour Johnson that's 22 years old and still going!!!! I never have had anything Marshall but a lot of my friends that bear and hog hunt swear by them. The Quicktrack
collars work well but they don't last. I hunt 5-6 nights a week and
have to have something tha'll last.

We have had three Quicktrack collars and all have went dead within 2 yrs. years also. They are good collars but the batteries don't seem to last too long. Marshall by far the best.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I thought I was just having bad luck.
