what do you use to back ticks out
i read on the board a while back that you could get ticks to back out by applying something. does any one remember what it was

i apply my two fingers and pull. if the head comes off, i use a pair of tweezers to pull it off. when i was a kid, my grandfather got me to tick his dogs. he had 20 or 30 of them for fox hunting. i would pull them off and drop them into a small can of coal oil.

rubbing alcohol will usually back them out or you could cover them with vasoline that will make them back out to get air

vasoline, cuts the air off and they will back out. iv had good luck with it in the past.
Its actually better to pick them off even if you leave the head in there. It will fester out. When applying something that makes them back out it will cause them to puke thus infecting you/dog with anything bad they have in them.
