Another Score This

Nite Ch or GRNite Ch cast.
Dogs are turned loose, NO DOG HAS OPENED. Cast walks in a little way and they see two dogs just standing there looking at the ground. Cast wanders what they are doing so someone throws a light on the dogs. In between the two dogs sits a OPOSSUM, Now this critter is just sitting there, and the dogs are not biting, sniffing barking nothing, just looking at it. Cast walks up and notices that the critter is alive and well and has no signs of being messed with.

What do you do?

This should get good.

Give them time, they will get gone or get scratched. I'm betting on scratched.

i would say start the 30 on them since they have not open or have not messed with it. but any attempted to molest, bark or fight would be a scratching offence.jmo

Can't scratch them unless they molest the off game in some way.

You could put the time on them for not hunting, and watch them to see if they mess with the possum, but that's it.

Seen a dog come in from being cast one night and blow by the cast, about that time a possum comes across the field. The dog makes a hard right, goes up to the possum, then turns and goes on hunting.

Nothing to do, the dog didn't chase or molest the possum, just looked like she was curious as to what was coming across the field toward them.

I was not on the cast that this happened too. But when I heard about it I thought it was interesting. My buddy that told me about it said that in a nite ch or grnite ch cast he would have scratched them. I told him you cannot scratch them for admiring a OPPOSUMS beauty LOL.

I Still Think Rule 6K comes into play But the way the rules are another rule will over ride it in some way or someone's idea. just my two 1/2 $

People need to learn to enjoy a hunt. What is the fun of scratching a dog for LOOKING at an opposum? Sure you could try to make the rules fit your argument for scratching in this situation and it is in fact a judges call that would require a majority of the cast to overturn....... but if they haven't, aren't, and don't do anything more than look at it I'd agree with Jim. Start the 30 and keep watch. They mess with the possum they are done. They stand and look at it for 30 minutes they are done. If your wife caught you looking at another woman would you feel it fair that she accused you of running or molesting?

Honestly as a judge you have to make that call. IMO as a judge you are in for a long night if you start by scratching 2 dogs for LOOKING at a possum. But if as the judge, you feel certain they ran or molested it by all means scratch them.
