WHERE IT'S A PLEASURE TO HUNT!

Just sounds a little young to me! I have a 2 year old female and 3 year old male, both Plotts that still love to run and play and wrestle in the yard just like 4 month old pups. The only difference in them and what your describing is that when they go to the woods, they're all business! But I bet your pup will grow out of it if you keep it hunting!

What kinda food you feeding

Reason im asking, I got a redbone male the same way, I was feeding him high powered dog food (24/20) cut him back to not so much protein andl ess fat which cut his energy down. Not saying feed him cheap food just cut him back to a maintanace food. Some dogs do good on high energy food some it makes them bounce off the wall. just a thought.

Sounds like you've got a pretty good pup, to run and tree with older dogs with out much work. As far as him playing to much he should grow out of it. If you don't want to wait you can hunt him by himself on a drag with a caged coon. Easy tracks at first so he gets to the tree no problem. Once he gets a few easy ones he'll start to figure what he's in the woods for. When you let him go and he takes off looking for a track you're done.
