YA KNOW, I HATE TO SOUND LIKE I'M WHINING ABOUT THIS.

BUT I LOGGED ON YESTERDAY AND CHECKED MY THREADS. THEN, I NOTICED SOMETHING WAS DIFFERENT. I COULDNT QUITE PUT MY FINGER ON IT, THEN I NOTICED MY SIGNATURE.

AS YOU CAN SEE, IT SAYS IT HAS BEEN EDITED BECAUSE IT WAS TO LONG.

THAT DOES NOT BOTHER ME. I'M FINE WITH THAT. I WAS GOING TO EDIT IT ANYWAY BECAUSE I NEEDED TO ADD TACK ON THERE. I WAS GOING TO TAKE OFF SOMETHINGS ANYWAYS.

THEN, I GOT TO NOTICING SOMETHING TODAY. THAT DOES BOTHER ME.

NO ONE ELSE'S SIGNATURE HAS BEEN EDITED DUE TO LENGTH.

I FOUND ONE, THAT WAS 45 LINES LONG. MINE RIGHT NOW IS 17, INCLUDING THE EDIT LINE.

I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHY MINE GOT EDITED, BUT NO ONE ELSES HAS?

I PERSONALLY DONT THINK THAT IT IS FAIR. YES, MINE WAS LONG, BUT NOT AS LONG AS SOME.

IF ONE PERSON IS GOING TO BE RESTRICTED TO WHAT THEY CAN PUT IN THEIR SIGNATURE, SHOULDNT EVERYONE?

LIKE I SAID, NOT WHINING OR WORRYING. JUST WONDERING.

There is a "setting" that the webmaster could configure to cut folks off at X number of characters in a signature line...not sure why they have the moderators policing signatures......

As Joe mentioned it s easy to set a limit. Another thing I noticed if the moderators want to change or limit things just contact the poster and explain why something needed to be moved or edited or deleted so people know. I suppose cause it's free advertising we as posters don't have much say but I have found common courtesy goes a long way.

And speaking of Moderator Bearhunter Sam, too bad you can't make English Days this year. I know there's no way UKC will let you leave your moderator job for more than a day!!! LOL!

All the remote control freaks have to do to not be bothered with seeing what others are posting in thier signatures is to:

#1...Go to the top of the page and click on user cp

#2...Click on Edit Options

#3...Go down to Thread View Options

#4...Choose to see or not to see signatures

#5...Wha La !! No signatures to be bothered with !!

Everyone on this board has the option of following those 5 steps.

BUT NOOOOO !!!!

The truth is they just want something to complain about and give others a hard way to go...It takes more time for them to complain about this silly issue than it would for them to follow those 5 simple steps listed above.

for ukc to delete all posts at 30 days. then maybe, we can get on. and the bandwidth won't be slowed down!!!!! when everyone comes on at a certain time, it slows down the bandwidth with all the extra stuff added to peoples signatures, posts, etc.

this includes daily diaries ...get a website. if folks are interested in your hounds, they'll go there.

Thanks for the tip. That was handy. I hadn't thought of them as a bother but it it loads quicker for me to reduce the amount of pieces of text.

yeah, which they should do if they don't want to see them. I find some of the signatures interesting to read also.

Yes, you are so right...I stand corrected in my 'wording'.

Dictator and remote control freaks were more distriptive words of the ones that did enough whining for this to have been an issue..The selections were already put at everyones finger clicking reach to be able to make the choice to see or not to see..That's the point trying to be made...It is simpler to do than the time it takes to complain...Actually the choice was given to all of us at the time we signed up and did our profile info...
1, 2, 3, 4 poof 5, the signatures are gone...They don't have to be looked at by the ones that don't want to see them and they can be viewed by the one that do like some of them...No one harmed..Both get what they want to see...Some like the sigs...Some do not...But, the 2 way street, will become a dead end for some because of the 2 distriptive words used above..

It's a silly argument for both sides...Silly for some to want to show off all that mess in the first place. Even more silly that it has to be complained about when the complainers have the choice right in front of them to simply not view it...

It's not gonna bother me one way or the other...I would really hate to know I was the cause of someones daily discomfort because of a few words printed...So, I will gladly remove mine...Look POOF they are gone...Just a few SIMPLE clicks of the key board...The whiners will get thier way and the words will be removed anyhow. So I will save em the trouble. GOOD GRIEF FOLKS..There is so much more to cry about!!

Terrible idea in my opinion. There's too much useful information that can be found using the search feature. I know if I want info on a hound, I'll search to see if anyone has asked about the dog before so I don't post the same thing again...wasting bandwith.... Plus, there are a bunch of members that have left the boards that no longer post. JMO...

if you really want that long of a signature just cut and paste it at the bottom of every post you make...that way everyone has to look at it because it is part of your post...see there is a way around everything.
