Dog Treeing ?

Ive got a 8 month old english male that seems to be coming on pretty good in my opinion. He's got the tracking part pretty much whooped but when it comes to treeing, well he dont. Saturday night he was wearing a track out and my buddys blue dog came over there with him sat down and had the meat. he had already picked up another track. He eventually came back to the tree. i caught him leashed him back and attemped to get him excited. he stood on the tree looked up for a second or two then he would get back off and look at that blue dog like what are you doing. I realize that this dog is still fairly young but I would think he should be showing some interest at a tree by 8 months. I have showed him some cage coons. He'll go nuts if its on the ground but when I hang it in a tree he'll just sit there and look at it then looses interest. Hopefully someone on here has experienced this before and will have a suggestion or two for me to try. Any advice will be appreciated.
