Fighting
I've seen them scratched off the lead before they were cast. My interpretation is any dog attempting to fight will be scratched. I would consider that interference even if they were still on the lead strap. If u know the one causing the problem it is scratcehd and if u can't tell then all dogs involved are scratched.

Were the scorecards already handed out and casts decided. The cast starts as soon as the judge takes the scorecard and the dog can be scratched........If it was before the cards were handed out
a formal complaint could be brought up. It would take witnesses and be investigated and the dog could be written up...

STRAIGHT FROM UKC RULES
6. DOGS WILL BE SCRATCHED:
(b) Fighting or attempting to fight during the authority of the Judge. Dog's name, UKC number and owner's name will be reported to UKC on Nite Hunt report form. No handler will be allowed to scratch his dog to avoid dog from being scratched for fighting. When the aggressive dog is known, scratch the aggressor only. If not known, scratch dogs involved.
(c) Attempting to fight is defined as follows: when dog(s) are interfering with other dog(s) during the authority of the Judge by aggressive behavior.
THIS DOSE NOT SAY THAT THE DOG HAS TO BE OFF THE CHAIN TO BE SCRATCHED IT JUST SAID THAT A DOG HAS TO BE INTERFERING WITH AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR WHICH TRYING TO START A FIGHT WITH ANOTHER DOG IS INTERFERING WITH AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR SO THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION IS YES A DOG CAN BE SCRATCHED BEFORE HE IS CAST IF HE IS SHOWING AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR.

Where`s the interference? Did they stop another dog from doing something?
Interference only comes into play when its "attempting to fight".
When its an actual fight, you scratch the aggressor if known, or both dogs if the aggressor isn't known.
Otherwise you would have 2 dogs rolling and both handlers claiming their dog wasn't interfered with, to avoid a scratch.
"During the authority of the judge" means the judge can scratch the dogs from the time he receives the card, until he turns it in. So, yes, he can be scratched in the box, on the lead, or at any time.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE FIGHTING TO HAVE INTERFERENCE
LOOK AT IT THIS WAY IF YOU CAST OUT WITH FOUR GUYS ON A HUNT AND ONE OF THE CAST MEMBERS GETS UP IN YOUR FACE AND START YELLING AND THREATING TO WHIP YOUR *** BUT NEVER ACCUALY STARTS A FIGHT IS HE NOT INTERFERING WITH YOUR HUNT AND HAS HE NOT SHOWN AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR. IF YOU CANT HERE YOUR DOG TO CALL HIM PROPERLY I WOULD SAY YOU HAVE INTERFERENCE AND WITH HIM THREATING TO WHIP YOUR *** I WOULD SAY YOU WOULD HAVE AGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR. THESE SAME ACTIONS APPLY TO DOGS.
HOPE THIS HELPS AND I HOPE NOBODY HAS TO WORRY ABOUT THIS PROBLEM CAUSE THE MOST IMPORTANT REASON TO HUNT IN THESE HUNTS IS TO MAKE NEW FRIENDS AND HAVE A GOOD TIME. NO THIS DOSE NOT HAPPEN ENOUGH CAUSE TO MANY OF US ME INCLUDED JUST WANTS TO WIN BUT THAT DOSNT MEAN WE HAVE TO BE DISHONEST. IF YOU HAVE A ILL DOG LEAVE HIM AT HOME NOT TO SAY THAT YOU HAVE A ILL DOG CAUSE SOME TIMES DOGS JUST DONT GET ALONG WITH EACH OTHER. I HAVE HAD IT TO HAPPEN TO ME.
HAPPY HUNTING TO EVERY ONE

fellows screaming scar ant kt are right.you cant scratch a dog while its on the lead.if some one scratches your dog while on the lead you better question the call.
dog or dogs can be scratched for fighting at any time that judge has the score card.

Lets say we need to take one vehicle to the hunting grounds and we load 2 dogs in each side of box. there is a fight in one side of dog box your telling me that the two dogs in the box should be scratched for fighting. I would never scratch someone for this
read the rules !! how ya going to win if ya dont know the rules !!
STRAIGHT FROM PKC RULES
A. FIGHTING
(1) ISSUING WARNING - Any dog snarling, growling,
or coming off a tree toward another dog will be
scratched. A dog with his hackles turned up,
growling and fussing may be scratched. Equal consideration
should be given regarding scratching a
dog fussing and growling while hunting, as well as,
one who is treed. Judge may issue a warning to
the handler of a dog he suspects is causing trouble
without scratching the dog. In any subsequent
altercation where the aggressive dog is not known,
the dog under warning shall be scratched with the
other dog involved being permitted to remain in
the cast under warning. No Handler will be
allowed to withdraw his dog to avoid being
“scratched for fighting” without first handling the
dog. Any cast member(s) found guilty of allowing
another cast member(s) to withdraw to avoid
being scratched for fighting may be subject to disciplinary
actions.
(2) REQUIREMENTS TO SCRATCH DOG - A dog may be
scratched by the Judge and one (1) other cast
member or a majority of the cast when observed
in an altercation with another dog. No dog should
be scratched for fighting while under the control
of his handler (on leash, in a truck, etc.) or
because of another dog previously scratched or
withdrawn but not handled. However, a dog may
be scratched after hunting time has expired should
it be involved in the scoring of a tree call.

There is nuttin like a fighting dog so no you can't scratch them just get a better dog and win.

I'm a MOH...
Once the card is handed to the judge the hunt begins, and the dog can be scratched until the judge turns the card back in. The judge has the authority over your dog when he gets the card.. I've seen numerous dogs SFF without leaving the clubhouse grounds.....I've personally written two dogs up for fighting before the cards were given out. A formal complaint was filed and the ruling was to DQ them from the hunt and write them up. I've also scratched and written up several others when the judge wouldn't.
I heard from all in the cast and made a decision..SFF.....When I judge a cast I go out of my way to catch a mean dog. I tell the guys that before we leave the clubhouse and more than one guy has withdrawn......I've written up dogs in bench shows as well.. Mean dogs are mean dogs and need to be gotten rid of.......Too many good ole boys let their buddies withdraw...Not me ..I'm writing him up.....Here's an example that happened at a hunt that I was MOH.....A young boy about 14 or 15 enters his young pride and joy(his first real coonhound) in his first nitehunt for both...I see that he draws a guy known for rough dogs and I advise him to withdraw..He doesn't as he is hyped up for his first hunt.....Long story short....When the cast comes in the rough dog has chewed up this young boy's dog and another hound. The boy's dog lost an eye and had many stiches...The judge let him withdraw and I said BS..I got the cast together and asked questions and I gave the rough dog A SFF and he was barred from hunting that dog again. Also wrote up the handler when he got to cussing.....That boy has not been back to a nitehunt..Do you blame him??? Nuff Said....
