Last Night's Hunt Pics (3/12/09)

We had a really good, fun hunt last night. I couldn't go tonight, I had babysitting duty so my sister and mom went. It's cold out anyways lol. Anywho, Seth came on over last evening with his Walker male, Rock, and we were packing Jebb, Dawn and Rebel. The first dump the went down over the hill, all dogs opened and then fell treed. Upon walking in, we see that Rebel and Dawn are holed in some thick briar nest and Jebb and Rock are treed about 20 yards away. They were treed on a big tree that leaned over into a big mess of vines on a den tree so that was about hopeless. We leashed em up and went on to the next drop. Well, we cut em down a nice holler and they all went straight out of and towards a cow pasture. Rebel went up over a hill to our left and the other three kept on up the valley. We heard Rebel strike and get treed in a matter of minutes and headed into her. By the time we got to her tree, the other three were treed about 3/4 of a mile away. Rebel had two nice big, fat coon sitting above her so Kellie was prouder than punch other than the fact that it was a tangled mess of briars about 15 feet in diameter of the tree lol. That Rebel is really coming along......We got out of there and headed back to the truck to drive around to the other dogs. Rock and Jebb were once again treed together and had a coon on the outside, he almost missed that critter. He was sitting in a big pocket in the second fork of the tree. Dawn was treed about 30 yards away on a big den, thought we seen a coon rustling around but could only see one angle of the tree. Kellie snapped some pics and we called it a night. Here they are....

Really Nice!

Boy that picture of Rebel is great... She looks SO athletic! As for Nightmare10's comment...LOL.. I can see why he'd post that...you really are a Beautiful girl with Such a wonderful smile! As much as I adore Jebb... you outshine him in that picture! You KNOW how much I love to see his pix and I will be sure to send the link to Bob so he can get to see how good everyone looks out in those woods... Love to see the variety of colors and breeds Dawns coat again shines like you guys oil her coat... HEALTHY dogs! You guys are a good example(great actually) of how hard work and devotion pays off. Also an amazing example of a FAMILY doing this together and sharing things like BabySitting duty etc.... We've enjoyed following your progress SO much!

Keep Having fun! HappyHunting Heather and Bob

Great pics,
Looks like you have some good accurate Coondogs.
Independant also, as they have been split treeing.
Keep the pictures coming, this is good stuff.

Looks like a walker and some plotts, what's the breedig of hound in first picture?

Autumn- They weather has gotten a little cold but still pretty nice. No snow or super cold so hopefully it will stay at least this nice. I hope it is really good hunting when yall come down. Mister's foot is doing well, he should be able to make a few drops with us....

Richard N.- Thank you so much for your positive comments. We have been trying to keep the dogs in the timber about every night and the young dogs are just getting better and better. The old dogs are also getting some practice lol. We can't wait for some more spring weather....

Treemydog- Thanks! Same goes to you!

Jim M.- The English female in the first pic is out of Chad Nay's GRNITECH Pr Rocky Creek Spiderman and an All Grand Casper female. Spider is out of Rocky Creek Bo who produced the 2008 UKC World Champion. There is a thread on the English board (Rocky Creek English) started by Chad, that contains a ton of info on this great line of English hounds....Rebel just turned 2 years old a few days ago, Kellie raised and trained her all by herself so she's really proud of her ....

Here is a better pic of Rebel....

Jim....

Thanks so much!!! Rebel is my pride and joy. I sent her to chad's for a month last spring when she was 11 months old so she could run loose on his property and chase game to her hearts desire. I hunted her from the time she treed her first coon by herself ( she was 7 months old the beginning of last coon season when she did it) besides sending her to Chads for a month. I got her back when she was 12 months old and she had a little more desire, but I knew she wasn't ready to start hunting hard. I hunted her about twice a week until this October and I really started to put her in the timber. She is a completely different dog now, and probably a once in a lifetime hound. She has never been caught under or behind off game, and she is a very easy handling dog that minds very well. I look forward to the next 10 years with Rebel.

I had a lot of fun this night and I was real proud of my two coondogs. The next night when Danielle was stuck with Baby sitting duty we hunted with a friend of ours that has a nitech plott female. I hunted Dawn and rebel and My mom took Dog. We made 2 pine trees and a den. on the den Rebel struck first and sat down, located, and treed before Dawn and Dog and they shortly backed her within seconds.

went to a nite hunt last night with Dawn. drew out a 3 dog cast and the only coon we looked at all night is the one they caught on the ground in the first 10 minutes. Dawn made two holes by herself, slick treed one and left a tree. One dog withdrew and the other minused out, there was 10 minutes left I could have hunted but there was no way the coon were running that good to tree 2 coons in 10 minutes to pull me out of the hole. If she would have ended up with any plus points she would have got a Nitech win on her, considering no nitech casts came in with plus points. there were 20 reg. dogs and only I think 3 places were handed out...So the coons just werent moving!
Happy hunting and take care
Kellie
