Cough that won't go away!!! Help!!!

I have a 3 yr old walker female that had a bad case of Kennel Cough back last November. The cough went away after about a month. A couple of weeks later, a cough came back but it is not as bad as kennel cough. She still has the cough and I have taken her to the vet several times for it. She has been on Steroids and two different Anti-biotics. If anyone's has any information or experienced this I am open to all suggestions.

have you had her tested for heartworms

I have experienced this... 3 vets and 3 years later she is still coughing. Went through the whole antibiotics and steriod thing. Tried an expensive narcotic... didn't help a lot. Lasix seemed to help somewhat. Sometimes she doesn't cough as bad as others.

Cough

She has been tested for Heartworms and it came back negative. I was going to be surprised if she had them since she gets injected with a 1/2 CC of Ivomec once a month.
It seems that this cough gets lighter when the weather is good and when it makes a sudden drop in temperature the cough gets worse. What she has is not contagious because she is in an above ground kennel with about 10 beagles and nothing else has it. I sure wish I could get this figured out. Will it be ok to keep hunting her?

if lasix helps....

could be fluid in her lungs or around heart. just like in people. anyway...try robotussin dm. i'm sure someone will give me flack but i have used it and it works. i had a walker puppy that nothing the vet did, hellped her. the pharamacist said "try this"...it worked. LOL! good luck....

The vets don't seem to think that it is in her lungs. It is more in her throat. We have not x-rayed her yet but it is coming soon just to see if we can see anything. My vet actually said that I could give her an adult dose of robitussen as needed but I have not tried that yet. I don't want to shove too much medicine in her at one time. I appreciate the all the help I can get.

try what laura said i bet it works i have used it many times with great resultts i bet you will find it's no more than an iritated throat use the roitussin as laura said and i would bet it goes away. it's sure worth a try

talk to your vet about fuhgi infection in the lungs do in hunt in swamps or verywet land i do also and my female alot in water and such she starter coughing alot real deep sound then went awaythen came back but the vet figured out and it was fungi infection in her lungs

Lasix is a powerful diuretic. If you use it, make sure that you are also giving them plenty of water. In a relatively short time they can become dehydrated when using this. Dehydration will compound your problems.
