Wisconsin DNR confirms a mountain lion sighting

I was looking on the DNR site today and checked the recent news link and saw this. March 3 a houndsman ran and treed a large male lion. He then contacted the local warden. The next day they had a team of biologists with them they treed it again but they didnt use a high enough dose of tranquilizer so it got away. They planned to try again to capture it. It was located west of Spooner Wisconsin in Burnett county. The link even had a picture of the critter treed.

I live in Manitowoc county and big cats have been spotted here off and on for years but the DNR denied it. Guess they can't deny it anymore. That is a healthy looking tom cat.

What's funny is the lack of traquilizer. Thought they were experts in everything. At least that's what they want us to beleive.

Just got my Wi. Outdoor news, had a story and pics. in there of a 52 lb. Bobcat killed in Dec. in Langlade County. Sure isn't a lion but had a 3.5" track. Thanks for posting the picture, I'll keep my eyes open a little wider this bear season.

Don't worry Mike it's just an over grown barn cat is all. Not near me at all way up in the north west corner of the state. But there have been the rumors in Manitowoc county just east of me but we havent walked up on one yet. We hunt the western side of that county all the time.

There have been sightings of big cats just west of the town of Manitowoc. Folks have seen the cats AND their tracks. DNR kept denying it. Though it's been a few years since any sightings.
