Water temp is still to low here. It is in low 50's. It is suppose to be 80 this weekend. Wont take long to before they move to spawn. I don't troll, I just go at night and hang a light.

I'm getting fired up too.

Delta, Have you gotten any reports from Bee Lake yet. I am thinking about heading over there this weekend if the wind will let me stay on the lake.

Blues

The Big blues are biting up here in Okla. at Kaw lake on the north end.. A buddy from work, went last Tues. and caught {27} in 2 1/2 hours ranging from 13-33 lbs. caught them in 20-25 foot water. Like too get up there to get the arm loosened up for the upcoming Crappie season...

weather

will you all send some warm weather this way so we can start crappie fishing lol

Posted by CX3 on 03-06-2009 01:10 AM:

Got off tomorrow so were going white bass fishing. Supposed to be catching quite a few. They are still pooling in about twenty feet. I dont know what the water temp is Id say mid 40s. Still a little cool, when it gets closer to 52 then you better be on the water!

I crappie and catfish almost every day and/or night all summer long. On some nights, I will throw a pup in a crate in the front of the boat. When I see a coon on the bank, I will put the pup on a hot track. The ice just went out on the lake I live on. I will post fishing video clips this summer.

We just hang lights off the boat and in about 20 minutes shad will start swarming. then here comes the white perch. I wish I had it on film last year. We has so many small shad schooling around us that the boat was slowly spinning. You could hear the white perch hitting the bottom of the boat. They will bite fast for about 30 minutes then nothing for about 30 minutes. If the weather is good for two more weeks here they will be in full swing. Its fun pulling in 2lb white perch as fast as you bait you hook.

Reelfoot Lake is extremely low right now. Talked to a guide the other day said crappie were slow. We caught several hybird brim out of a neighbors lake that were huge.

Dad was a MAJOR crappie fisherman. I always like to brim fish myself. I would sit in the front of the boat with the minnow bucket, and he'd sit in the back with the crickets and we would bait each others hook and take fish off. One day he was wearing me out Dad had caught at least 5 to my one. As he was baiting my hook in the back of the boat all the sudden he said dang boy I see why you ain't catching anything. That feller up at the bait shop sold you some one-eyed crickets!! Fish are scared of one-eyed crickets..lol we were always messing with each other. Dad did'nt see to well after he got older. One time when I baited his hook, I straightened it out. He would get bites but never a fish. I let it go for a little while before I confessed. The trot line fish was a great prank. I made a big wooden fish and painted it all up. Tied it to the line that night while baiting hooks. Dad ran the lines next morning and seen this ugly thing and about jumped outta the boat...lol

Sure do miss him. Love you Daddy...

Crappie

Just came in off Rum Creek. Water temp. 54 degrees. Muddy water in upper end. I pushed jigs...saw a fellow that was dragging minnows, he had fished since noon and only had two fish, but the one I saw him catch was a good fish. I left the boat hooked, may get some minnows and hit it tomorrow. Or take the pup to the woods, and hope for a bark!

Good Fishing...it will get better!!

Great story, I miss mine also, after he wasn't able to go we spent about every Sunday morning "coon hunting" at the kitchen table over coffee.
