my sons first pheasant (pics)

i took my 8 yr old son out hunting today and he shot his first pheasant. he did real good it was in the teens with a strong wind and he hunted hard...im pretty proud of him..

I remember my first pheasant, to this day. When we cleaned it, it didnt have a bb hole in it anywhere, but that sucker dropped! Around our area, NE OHIO, dont see to many pheasants any more.

nice job brad you will have to come up and hunt behind my beagles next fall the dnr releases them around the house sure is a different way of huntin with some beagles

Nice bird, hope you all have many more days afield together hunting birds & everything else.

ya the bird is gonna be dinner tomorrow night...
the lab is my duck dog but she was along for the hunt. she retreived it for us and it was a special day. he has got a deer a turkey a coon and now a pheasant.. not to bad for 8 yrs old..lol

the hammer on his single shot got him in the cheek.. check out the pic. it hurt but he wanted to keep on huntin.
im not sure who was more proud....

Hammer in the cheek...OUCH, I remember those kinda battle scars! My first shot gun was a beat up old Iver Johnson single shot 12 gauge...that old smoke pole beat the heck out of your shoulder and face! Tell your son it'll put hair on his chest LOL. If he can get a pheasant with a hammer gun, he'll be lightning quick on birds when he graduates to a pump or double gun. I already have a single shot .410 for my son and he's only 2 lol.
