Question about Tracking Collars.

I have noticed alot of people ditching their old timey tracking systems to get Garmins.

Im wondering if in the future it will be possible to buy the old units. So Im thinking Changeable Battery Collars may be the way to go.
Which Changeable Collars, do you think are the best and will be the most dependable?
I plan to stick with the Old Timey Time Tested, Proven Units.
