hows everyones DC30's holding up

How are everyones DC30's holding up to tough hunting quite often? antenna, strap, etc.

the 20 was good the 30 is even better just dont like the way the charger hooks up think it could be better. the 30 has twice the range for me picks up at a mile pretty clear where the 20 was about 600 yards for me

Posted by Clayton Sikes on 02-19-2009 05:08 AM:

Andy, how is the condition of the collar holding up to frequent use??? Like the antenna, etc.

Posted by Andy Edgar on 02-19-2009 05:14 AM:

i use mine 3 to 4 nights a week for about 4 months and no sign of wear yet and it stays in water and brairs only thing i have problems with is getting a good connection on the charger

3 weeks running brush and fences and Garmin is sending me a new collar because that nylon piece of crap is falling apart. They need to make it out of Day-Glo material and color code them for use.

I think I got a bad one..The range sucks on mine! Other than that its held up decent..Water does not bother them..

Color coding would be great.

I wrote on the back of mine with a black marker the dogs name it belongs to. Helped me out.

Change the time from 5 to 10 or 30 second and the collars will last longer

I've got two, bought one in October and one in January. Both have worked great with no problems. I have noticed that the first one I bought seems to get just a bit more range than the new one. The range is much better than my old DC-20 which I traded in. I would say about twice the range in hunting situations.

Mine is holding up pretty good. I put some extra thick gorilla tape on the main plastic housing to give it a little protection from getting beat up. I did not have a problem before, it just seemed thin like it would crack easy.

I started using the dc20 with the vest and it is nearly as good as the dc30. Treed the other night at 1.9 miles and both picked up good. I was on a hill and dogs were in a bottom.

most of the time the 20 is good up to 1.2 miles and the 30 is good up to 2 miles.

I have 3 DC 30s and the only problem so far is 1 of em broke the plug where it comes out of the battery going to the gps transmitter, it's between the batt and the mounting plate on the collar, so I think they must have cracked it when they put it together at the factory, as there's no way anything can get in that tight of a place..

I sent it in and they replaced it so I'm well satisfied with mine!!

Mine have been working great. As for color coding, I just got some colored duct tape and made them match my e-collar colors, works great. Farm boy has to make do with what he has.
